I've been looking at their various models.

They have nice "lower end" helmets like the S-4 which are on sale at a few places. The only thing that I'm concerned about is where theyre made, China. Will the quality be much different than their gp techs which are made in Italy?

I'm probably just being picky, but can I get some feedback from someone who has tried their stuff?

After having a quality helmet (rf1000) I'd like my next lid to be just as good, if not better. Too bad their techs are in the $700+ digits.

agv has been bought, sold, bought sold so many times now its hard to keep up with who makes em and who owns em again...

i believe KBC is making them now...a korean company outsourcing to china under an italian name...

the ones that are out now in the past couple of years are okay and much better than a few years ago...

besides checking for fit and comfort, another way is to check how easy (or not) to take the visor on/off or the cheek pads..take em out and if they're lined up right, they'll go back in without a hitch...also look in the mirror and check if the mouth vents actually line up with your face....:laughing

yes, that's how bad some batches are out there...

I dunno about AGV. But if V4 is right, then, well, I'd steer clear.

I've always bought Arai helmets. Costs alot of money, but this is one piece of gear I'll spend alot of money on without complaint.

AGV is owned by Dainese now. We purchased them from Lazer based out of Belgium about four years ago. Most of the helmets are built in a new factory outside of Vicenza Italy, but some of the lower priced helmets are, in fact, made in China. Most of the top brand helmets such as Arai and Shoei are also building in China, so don't let that put you off.

Take a look at the new T2. It is also a carbon/kevlar lid like the GP Tech, but you can get into one of them for around $450.00. Really, really nice helmet.

I love my two AGV's.

S-4 and the Miglia (flip-up)

Weigh a lot less than what they replaced (especially the Miglia vs. Nolan) comfortable for my fat head, and impeccable service at the D store in SF.

Still waiting for the Liberace jacket in XL to go to almost free clearance pricing.

Just replaced my shoei rf1000 with another rf1000 but I'll remember this post when I go to get my next lid :thumbup

AGV belongs to Dainese since 2007, and was previously the property of the Belgian group "IMAG"

about the helmet thmeselves : I've owned a S4, and the fit was horrible for me compared to Shoei, Shark or Scorpion; so be aware that AGV's fit is different from these brands...
It felt quite heavy too.

I have an AGV GP-Tech helmet and I love it; it fits really well, it is well-ventilated and not too heavy. This helmet is made in Italy. I would definitely buy another AGV helmet.

I have this one: http://www.agv.com/dyn_prod.php?p=K3_TOP_CELEBR8YELLOW&k=147719
I love it and it cost me $186. Goes well with my yellow 696. Made in China, but quality is good, better than my HJC's. My SHARK RSX feels more expensive which it was. As for the head shape, both are a little different, so you need to try them on. I find many of the mid-line helmets are built for neutral head shapes to try to fit the majority.

I have a neon yellow K3 as well, it is my commuter helmet since it is nice and bright.

I feel that my RF1000 is better built than my AGV K3, but then again I'm comparing a mid level model to AGV's lowest price model. It fits my head, that's what really counts. Design wise, I like AGV's paintings. Noisewise, the AGV is ok but not as quiet as my RF1000. If you already have a shoei, consider staying with the same model so you can reuse the visor, I have a habit of scratching up my visors.

I also have an AGV GP-Tech. It's light and aerodynamic, with fantastic ventilation (maybe too much along our cool, coastal roads). Fit is intermediate, snug yet comfortable. A bit noisy, but no more than my previous Arai Profile. Wear ear plugs. Both Rossi & Super Sic wear GP-Techs. What's not to like? :ride

I too have a GP Tech - actually my second after the first met the track pavement a little too hard. Thing worked perfectly and I didn't have as much as a headache. Different story for my ribs. Its a very strong and light helmet, and flows air very well even on 100+ days. Ultimately I wound up with the AGV because it fit my head shape the best, which IMO is the most important consideration in buying a helmet. The cost is the only bummer.

FWIW, I boycott Made-in-China products whenever possible, not only from a quality POV but also because I don't choose to support a country with an appalling human rights record. (And, yes, I'm typing this on an Apple keyboard.) I have no problem, however, buying stuff from Hong Kong, which is still self-governing, or Taiwan. The quality is world class, and I know that workers in HK and Taiwan are getting paid well, and that they're not children or prisoners forced to work for state controlled corporations...
