never thought about it, but Russia is the only country that could attack America from both coasts at the same time. That is a big ass country.

I mean do you really think Canadians go around calling stuff "Canadian ___?" And don't say Canadian Tire or I'll duct tape you to the roof of Fry's.

Is it Christmas yet? The US military-industrial complex could not have asked for a better gift. Of course now we absolutely have to counter that by buying a boatload of new hardware. Truth to be told, Russians are using weaponry that was designed when USSR was alive and kicking, but much of the US hardware is even older designs. For example, The F-16 and F-15 fighters were designed and put in production a good 10 years before russian Mig-29 and Su-27 aircraft. And they still make the majority of the aircraft in uncle Sam's inventory.

I predict that this idiotic rearmament program will be a miserable failure, just like every soviet program that predated it. It will bankrupt Russia, just like it did the USSR. The moment oil price drops below $35 a barrel in today's dollars (which is IMHO inevitable in the long run) the program will come to a screeching halt and Russia will be begging IMF for money to feed the starving population.

These morons should have sunk that money into something productive instead, like dealing with corruption, implementing economic reforms and building a real sustainable economy. As always, Russians are blowing oil money on stupid shit instead.

Russian elite, folks that call the shots in that pathetic excuse of a country, keep their loot safely stashed in Switzerland and US. They own properties in the US and western Europe. Russia as a country has a whole bunch of oil money invested into the US debt issues. Why would they want a military confrontation with US or NATO? They are much more concerned with China, and rightly so. I'd say that the odds of war between Russia and China in the next 10 years are pretty high. Unless the Russian military changes drastically, the odds that Russia will win that war using conventional weapons are slim to none. The only thing that is uncertain is whether China will back down when Russia threatens to use nuclear weapons, or will Russia actually have to use them. I don't doubt for one second that they will, when push comes to shove.

right cause we needed literally thousands of nukes.....a few hundred is significantly more than we would need even in a ful scale nuclear war

Yeah, OR, they're borrowing a play from our book ( although I don't really believe that there actually was a "strategy" to bankrupt the USSR by driving them to overspend on defence) and just publicizing a bunch of bs to get US to overspend :laughing
