CALSTAR 4 BARF Members

Heh. Just saw this, minutes after dropping my Enloe membership payment in the mail. They reciprocate with CALSTAR, don't they?

Enloe is the best one to get. They reciprocate with BOTH Calstar and Reach. Unless they've changed in the past year Calstar and Reach don't reciprocate with each other.

Enloe has you covered

+1 Get Enloe for $25 (Thunderhill group rate) and you're covered.

From the REACH website: "As a member of our REACH for Life program, you pay nothing for an emergency air medical transport provided by REACH or one of our reciprocating service partners (Cal-Ore Life Flight of Western Oregon and Enloe Flight Care of Chico, California)."

I would like to say thanks to the OP MCOM RC31, I've signed up two people since and myself....

We are pleased you have chosen to be a part of California Shock Trauma Air Rescue. You are one of over 14,000 families who know the peace of mind a CALSTAR membership provides. We are pleased to be a part of your community and are proud to work with individuals like you.

Thanks for putting together the group rate :)

The linked group rate website gives two options:

Group Membership (15+) - 1 Year - $35.00
Group Membership (150+) - 1 Year - $30.00

I think it's safe to assume this group is 15+ strong; how about 150+?

RIDING SEASON IS ON THE HORIZON

please follow the links in my signature for info and/or sign up. $35 is way better than paying 20k+ for an airlift!

'Bay Area Riders Forum' as the group name

stay safe out there you guys!

If you bought CalStar, you might need REACH too, they definitely answer calls to Infineon. Should have bought Enloe, they have reciprocity with REACH, who apparently don't play well with the others.

Darn, I just signed up last week!

i wish i had the foresight for this BEFORE my $32k airlift bill!!!

I signed up on my own about a month ago. I didn't know of the BARF discount and will try to remember to ask for it next year.

If I needed this coverage, I would happily pay even the full price of $45.

Fortunately, Kaiser covers helicopter rides, as I discovered a few years ago when I got to take one. The cost of the flight was $18K, which would have sucked to pay out of pocket.

You might check to see what Kaiser will pay out in today's money. Many insurance policies don't pay out on the entire Helo bill and what they don't cover gets charged to you by the airlift service. With the cheap membership, CalStar will accept whatever your insurance pays and call it good. They won't come after you for the remaining balance.

Enloe is a reciprocal partner with CalStar NorCal so you'd be covered by buying the CalStar membership. Reach is NOT RECIPROCAL WITH ENLOE OR CALSTAR so you should consider that membership as well.

Did insurance cover this?

they said my insurance only covers 70%. which would mean i would owe about $9,600. in which case, they might as well send it to the collection agency instead of me cuz i dont even make enough to eat at pizza orgasmica!

That's probably good advice. I know they paid the whole bill last time, but it does seem like they've gotten a lot tighter lately.
