Andy & Kurt's Goat Trails & Banjos & Dirt, OH MY!! 5/26/12

Dang missed another great adventure with the Hun and Banjo. What is this ritual of making a big deal about graduating anyway? I was in Santa Rosa watching my niece gradumatate when this all went down. The skys were angry that day with dark ominous clouds rolling in and out.

Wish I were there, and when's the next one? Might have to truck the wr up there. Tuan, fix that DRZ already.

Deann the DRZ is alivvvvvvvvveeeeeeee!!!!! just gotta register it and im good to gooo! maybe on next ride i can join ! :teeth:teeth:teeth

Tuan, your DRZ would be fine, and would be much better than what Andy and I rode. The DRZ would be a bit tedious on the return leg.

Dean, for a ride like this, where would you leave the truck? Seriously. Williams? Elk Creek? How would you get back to it. Big loops mean big miles. Bring your KTM, or even your GS.

Sweeper madness on the way to the dirt road:

Mental note: Raising tire pressure to extend tread life is not the hot ticket for optimal grip off pavement. Just sayin'.

:laughing I want to borrow a goldwing for this ride..

You'll be picking it up yourself. The surface where Andy fell the first time was difficult to walk on. Very similar to Sunday morning at ROMS.

Kurtz, I could leave the truck at a jump off point just before we leave the pavement like at the berryessa bridge no? Or meet you guys in Kelseyville. That way, we have a truck to pick up those that insist on going too fast then "physics"ly possible (not to mention any ((banjoboy)) names) so we wouldn't have to leave anyone to the tweakers, pot growers, etc as you mentioned.

The ktm would work but thats up in Kelseyville too, either that or I'd love to borrow one of those klrs from a local to see how that would do on one of your "adventure" rides :party
The GS would take way more skill then I have, you guys could do it but I need a cheater bike that's light so it's easy to pick up when I do a banjoboy :)

And so it begins. Just a little rain at first. Maybe it'll keep the dust down...

Sadly, it appears that I didn't really capture the snow on vid. :(

I think you underestimate how far north we went. If you parked at the bridge, point "c" on the map is roughly where Andy crashed. We continued west from there to 101 and began the trip south.

That's a real adventure you guys did Kurt, you got off roading...rain...slow...woooooo! If you think the drz can do it then I'm defanately in for the next ride ! I should get the bike going in two weeks or so :)

I think you're right Kurt, Clearlake is 100 miles around and your one way route dwarfs the lake. I guess if a DRZ can make it then the WR will as well. Tuan and I are IN on the next on. Tuan, be sure that DRZ is up to snuff cause we don't want to be stuck on a route like this. Although, I'm sure banjoboy has a great bbq recipe for cooking up some Vietnamese.:wtf

:wow Awwwwwhhh. I missed this!

You need a re-match Banjoboy.
I gotta be there to see that! :twofinger :party

Cool vids, too bad ya didn't get me wallowing in the mud! :rofl

You guys are flying down those gravel roads. :shocker

You guys are flying down those gravel roads. :shocker

No, actually Andy is flying. I was effing tip-toeing. I was running too much air pressure and was too lazy/stupid/stubborn (take your pick) to stop and air them down even though I had a pump with me. My tires got to moving around pretty good on FH-7 so I slowed down. The funny thing that I pointed out to Andy before his first bin is when you notice you're going considerably quicker than the 4wd pickups coming the other way it might be a clue to slow down! :laughing

I don't know Kurt, you're staying with him which means you're going fast too.
It's just amazing you guys can do that on street bikes with street tires.:thumbup

It's easy when ya have the right bike/tire combination! :rofl

Damn, I didn't realize this was the route you were doing.

It's been one I've been mapping out for the Misfits but I don't think all of em would make it :laughing
