R1200ST vs K1200R Sport

Congrats! That bike has one of the best ergo I've ever sat on. :thumbup

Thanks!

It is very comfortable. I think I'll end up with the handlebars at or near the lowest position most of the time.

Good Choice

I'm so happy for you. That bikes rocks and can hang with many sportbikes in the twisties.

Congratulations!

Triple

I think it'll work out alright if I don't take it off roading.

:rofl

EDIT: Just spent 5 seconds looking for this image. R1200ST at 100,000 miles. Must be a piece.

Yeahzzz, 'n here's an R1200 at 110,000 mi. :wtf

Thanks for the advice, everybody!

I bought Hayabusafiend's R1200ST today, and for the first 30 miles, I'm very pleased. It'll get the commute treatment tomorrow, and as long of a trip as I feel comfortable with on Thursday. I'd love to make it all the way to Big Sur. I really expect the bike to be comfortable for that kind of distance.

congrats!

a pic of you togehter with the bike please! :thumbup

btw: when was the last year k1200r's and r1200st's were available USDM?

It was completely dark by the time I got to his house, and taking pictures was far behind throttle twisting in my mind at that moment. As far as I know, 2005 was the only year the R1200ST was ever imported to the US.

EDIT: I think it was 2005-2007 for both, but don't quote me yet.

I take my R1200R off road pretty frequently. You'll be ok. And congrats - that's a sweet bike.

Jesus christ, dude. Give it a rest. It's like Yamaha is paying you to constantly talk shit about BMWs.

^^^ Off Road or Off pavement? If it is Off pavement....any pictures taken?

Not tryin to bust your chopps...just wondering where in California, Off roading is R1200R friendly.

Far as that goes...Pictures from anywhere...Off Road would be awesome :ride

When I made that comment to Banjoboy, I meant off-roading like your avatar. Methinks the R1200ST might not hold up so well to that kind of abuse. Off pavement can be handled by almost any bike with a bit of care.

^^^ Ummm, I was replying to Monkeynecks post (Hense the ^^^'s pointed at it)... :teeth & :)

I know you were, but his comment was based on Banjoboy's which was a response to me saying I wouldn't bring my Beemer off road.

I guess I just thought I'd stick my nose in here for some unnecessary clarification. I am excessively superfluous, after all.

Thanks. I'm pretty strongly opinionated, which makes some people butt heads with me, but I'm really a nice guy and pretty easy to get along with. I just don't care much if I offend people, especially the easily offended.

I consider the problem to be everyone else's shitty sense of humor, but most people call me an asshole.

:laughing Everything is relative...I see you as polite and rational and logical...

I see myself as Opinionated, and in a not common Universe...
That leaves others, not able to understand how I got here. Or what it's like here :laughing

I mostly ride by myself, so no pics. Although I'm pretty sure I have some GoPro video from some of the fire roads above Sonora Pass. So while I'm not talking about enduro racing, I'm also not talking about dirt parking lots. I'll see what I can dig up for you later on when I have some free time - you'll have to trust me for now. :cool

Really, the only difference between my bike and a GS is that mine spends more time in the dirt than your average GS, and less time at the Starbucks. My bike has a bash plate and one of those big sidestand foot thingies for street cred. Or off-street cred. :twofinger

^^^Any chance You were In Murphy's a couple of mornings ago? With plans to explore the roads out of there toward Sheep Ranch and Jesus Maria?

I briefly talked to a BMW 1200 (not sure which model) Guy, that shares your style...He had dirt boots on, as well....:ride

The R1200st came out in 2005 in the U.S., no 2006 models but did issue a very limited release 2007 in all black and no servo motor brake booster, thus addressing the problem of error codes sent to the e.c.m. leaving rider often with only residual braking power. The model was discontinued after the limited release in 2007.
FWIW i love the R1200st and would practically give my right arm for a 2007 super low mile all black edition!:thumbup
