Why do most sportbike commercials show lame riding? Why do they show the rider barely leaning it over at all, with this epic music playing? It's like a joke... there are so many riders who could lean it over twice that far if they just threw a set of DOT's on the bike for the commercial!

"We want to show the bike with the stock components, including tires" shut up, everybody changes their tires, that's the way tires freaking work, ESPECIALLY for a bike made for the track. show us what it can do with some real rubber on it, yeesh.

spies on the R1 barely even gets his knee down. wake up and ride harder.

Honda, the biggest racing company, and their flagship model, cannot get a rider to corner harder than this??

cool picture, kawasaki:

and yet some local yokel is able to do this on a public road:

grinding your knee into the ground isn't a measure of how fast you are going. you can tell from the video that when he's leaning a lot deeper, he retracts his knee

If your avatar is anything to go by, why don't you build up a portfolio and pimp yourself out to various commercial media companies? :twofinger

You arent their target audience. I'd bet that 99.9% of ppl that watch those commercial can't tell how "hard" anyone one of those riders is cornering. Remember, trackday riders and racers are such a small subset of motorcycle owners and no one else knows wtf is going on at a racetrack.

And rly, I'm sure Honda's lawyers would LOVE to deal w/ the possible lawsuits from producing a commercial showing someone dragging elbow on the streets using race tires.

So let's see if I got this right, Casey. Ben Spies is a wuss, Honda's are slow and you admire nitwits who go up to Muholland and usually crash. Got it.

The commercials target street riders, ya know? The bikes have street legal appointments, in every respect.

How do You suggest a bike should be leaned on the street?

What is Your excuse for not knowing the difference between the street and the track?

:laughing all your responses to this are amazing. i'm laughing harder and harder at each one. lou, you take the cake.

before i come back and actually respond to all your twisted points (which i will later today), let me just say this: i think that mulholland rider is a tool for riding like that. if you think my post is to say the mulholland rider is better than ben spies, your reading comprehension sucks. this will continue, thank you

Hmmm...

Maybe your riding comprehension sucks.....:twofinger

I also understand that the way Spies is riding in that video is probably a blistering fast lap, way way faster than I could ride while leaning over more....which is my point. it is faster, but they film it looking like C group riding. this is a commercial. what's the purpose of a commercial.

:facepalm

no, hes riding at a speed that the chase camera could keep up with... ie slow as shit, cuz the chase vehicle is prob a van or something. and, hes prob going even slower because hes also surrounded by a bunch of other riders that are doing "scripted" passing and shit.

it looks like there was 1 or 2 shots in that whole commercial where the camera is stationary and no other riders are in view. he might have been moving at a good pace in those few shots, but id bet its nowhere near his race pace. the other 90% of the commercial is fluff.

rly, its a terrible commercial no matter what and your "point" is silly.

no....1) spies is too good to be filmed looking that slow, the producers are wusses 2) hondas are faster than they are made to look in that commercial, and 3) that mulholland guy is a jackass. I'm saying: if it's that easy to just lean it over, why don't they do it in commercials with much better riders? you twisted everything i said backwards :twofinger

this ain't about me, i'm slow :twofinger

if the commercial is a sportbike on a racetrack, aren't they only targeting track enthusiasts?

you guys are all taking the mulholland rider thing as the opposite of what I mean: that's to point out that if a mulholland jackass can do that, couldn't the commercial producers trust spies to do it on a racetrack? and especially for viewers that don't understand "race track lines", seeing more lean angle just looks faster and better. yeah it's because of the chase van with the camera and stuff. yeah it's a dumb commercial. i wanna see more exciting commercials....

...yeah, its a silly point :p so what

Let's rotate that avatar so the horizon is flat.. interesting.. very interesting..
