You know the appearance of a logo on the side in no ways takes from the fun factor, right.

Why would you want to have some company's logo on the side of your bike if the company isn't paying you for that? Teams get paid, so it makes sense for them to put hideous logos on their bikes and ruin their appearance. But for your own bike, why would you want that?

Some people like wearing costumes and dressing up as their heroes... I'm a nologo type and have my own disparaging opinions but I do understand why they want to do it.

:dunno

I like the Marlboro, Luck Strike, and Rothmans scheme... I'd totally rock bikes with those schemes, and I don't even smoke.

Hell, I wear surf company t-shirts and I've never surfed in my life....

All I can say is there's a sucker born every minute.

Because of this bike's insanely high price and lack of performance?

It's not a bike for normal people, it's a collector's bike. So normal rules don't apply.

I used to have a Freddie Spencer replica Arai and I wasn't the only one. The appeal of a race replica bike doesn't have to be explained. You like them or you don't. Freddie was my favorite rider and if I could afford it Id buy one of his NSR500's for my living room.

McCormack was there first, but Mr. Honda, shut-him down. He wanted two-strokes, and we all know how Honda-san felt about those things. :p

Oh really? There are two to three hundred of these things. Not much of a collector's item, really, unless it has full performance. And even then, there are just too many of them, in my opinion. Now I want one, just to prove how stupid rich I am. I bet some barfer is waiting delivery with valley money in hand. Who is it? :)suspicious looking gif guy here)

Sounds like they've only sold one of them. :laughing

This might be the strangest collector bike ever. All that money for a neutered bike. :wow

Nice.......The tank has a longish look, making for a longer reach than most of today's bikes. I like that. :thumbup

BTW, the Castrol scheme is the best-looking color combo Honda has ever used.

If you question why someone would put a company name on their ride when they're not getting paid for it, go over to Oakland and ask all the guys who have Vernors or McDonalds plastered all over their 80's Cutlass. I'm sure they'll be receptive to your criticisms. :thumbup

Saving my pennies for the forkless version.

This. I still can not wrap my head around this? But I'm also not the collector type, I buy motorcycles to ride and so my practical side usually outweighs the "trophy in the garage to look at but not ride" side of me.

1st set of press kit fotos - yummy details

".....To recreate the MotoGP bike's maneuvering feel, the materials, surface treatment processes, manual procedures and methods used in manufacturing the S are similar to those used in the RC213V, and different from those used in typical mass-production models....."

How long before we start seeing Chinese copies of those lever protectors/mirrors? :D

2nd set o'press kit fotos:

".....The major changes from the RC213V are the use of traditional valve springs in the S as opposed to pneumatics, and a conventional transmission instead of the seamless transmission. These changes were made based on servicing requirements and the necessity that the RC213V-S be serviced in "a realistic maintenance environment....."
