For anyone that is a fan of the Godfather, HBO has a version called The Godfather Epic. It is in chronological order and has a bunch of extra scenes that give more background.

It it 6.5 hours long but worth a see if you love the Godfather.

It is like seeing a new version of the movie, pretty cool

Not the first time it's been done, but HBO will definitely do it better.

In the late 70's NBC had a multi-night showing of re-edited versions of Godfather l & ll in that order, Francis Ford Coppola agreed to it because he desperately needed money to finish "Apocalypse Now". Of course, it was butchered by the censors, and commercials, and there was no nudity in the scene of Apollonia on their wedding night... a huge disappointment to my high school self.

HBO will remedy that, I'm sure. :laughing

watching it now!

They do are really good job of filling in things that were skipped in the original movies.

I have never watched any of the Godfather movies. What am I missing?

We've got all 7 hours and 10 minutes of it on the DVR. Watched the first 1:15 so far. Good stuff.

I have never watched any of the Godfather movies. What am I missing?

IMDB ratings have Godfather 1 and 2 as the second and third highest rated movies of all time. I would put them one and two.

Saddam Hussein was a huge fan...it was his model for a government.

Took me two days but I watched all 7 hours. For an unknown actor at the time, Pacino did pretty well.

Never watched Godfather or part II til now, gangster movies are not really my cup of tea, but I sure appreciated the quality.

Guess I should watch Part III now, for closure.

You are missing 2 out of 3 damn good movies.
Pass on G/F 3.......trust me.

Not missing anything, I just watched The Godfather Epic. :p

I enjoyed reading up on the making of the movie, all the hoops the studio and moviemakers jumped through. The studio offered the movie to 12 directors, 12 directors turned them down. Then one of them (Coppola) changed his mind and said yes. I'm thinking he's glad he said yes. :p

Four of AFI's top 12 movie quotes are from actors who also appeared in Godfather and Godfather II. So good.

GF III is good, not as good as the first 2 but it does ok on it's own and wraps up the end of an era in the final scenes. It would have been a lot better if not for Copolas daughters shitty acting (Winona Ryder had the role but dropped out due to illness) As the movie posters said "all the money and power on earth can't change destiny".
