Today I got a call back from two dealerships to get quoted and was wondering if there's anything to ask while over the phone. I know I'm asking for the OTD price but is there anything else?

Also what is the Costcoauto program I see people talking about?

http://www.costcoauto.com/enterzipcode.aspx?gotourl=/default.aspx

Costco works with specific dealers with a pre-negotiated price, there is no haggle. The dealer is upfront with the price as well.

I was quoted for a few vehicles last year and the price was fair. I ended up going with a vehicle that wasn't on their list.

Would you say it's better off to use Costco? Would I get a better deal? Also when talking to a dealer how can I not get dragged into a deal? Got two call backs and already one of the guys who left a message sounded like he wanted to make the deal today lol

Numbers please.

What OTD numbers did the dealers give you?

What price number did the Costco dealio offer?

Depends on how well you haggle.

I was looking for a Jeep Grand Cheerokee

Current Costco pricing on JGC Limited models is $1350 under invoice, minus rebates. I would need to know al little more about exactly which one you want first. What engine, four wheel drive system, interior options etc.

Here are my in stock JGC Limited models:

When you come in on Saturday I'll be happy to get your trade appraised while we go over the Jeeps together. Just have the receptionist page me. Thanks!

I look forward to working with you!

I tend not to haggle on price but to haggle on accessories and trade in value. For the car we purchased I got $750 over bluebook on trade in and free roof rack, tow hitch, cargo protector and cargo cover (@$2500) and we paid just under ask.

When I bought my 2005 Tundra I sent an email to every dealer I was willing to drive to and buy. About 1/2 wrote back with a price. Was going to go with the lowest price, about a 70 mile drive. Wanted to look one more time at the Tundra before I drove out of town. Stopped at the local dealer and looked, asked his best price, and it was to high. Told him I had a better price on line. He said it I could prove it he would ask their on line sales manager to beat it. They did, almost $10K off MSRP by showing them my email with price.

I haven't called them back yet but once I do I'll let you know. But the funny Hong is that Costco gave me the same dealership as the one I got a call back from except that the dealer is different from who called me. So im gonna see if they give me two different prices. But for Costco it'll be a 2014 ninja 300 and amd for the other two quotes I applied for was for a 2016 ninja 300.

Probably will go for the 2014 if the price is reasonable

Friend who works car sales and say Costco / TruePrice ect will never ever be lowest possible negotiated deal .. but its 80% there for 10-20% of the work .. so .. how much is your time worth and how good of a negotiator are you actually ?

This will be my first time ever stepping foot in a dealership lol. So I've never tried to negotiate ever. I've been quoted and from what I heard it seems like too much lol

Dealership #2 contacted me back to schedule a day to sit down and discuss the Costco price.

Not sure if it'll be for a 2016 or the bike I applied for (2014 abs ninja 300)

Here's how it works--they want you to be in front of them, ready to buy. When you're actually there, your likelihood to do the deal goes up 10,000%. When you're just fishing on the phone they're not likely to take you seriously.

So figure out a reasonable price--keep in mind a Ninja 300 probably has an 8% margin--and write in on a piece of paper. Go into the dealership and ask if they'll give you that price. If they will, great. If they won't, walk. There are about 17 billion Kawasaki dealers in California at last count.

No negotiating required! If they say no, but let's talk about it, they will want you to fill out a credit app, etc. Don't do it! Tell them you'll write a check. The goal is to get you to start thinking payments, not OTD price. "What do you say to $89 a month?" is what they'll say. "Just sign here, and we'll see if we can do that. I have to talk to the sales manager." He has you sit in his little cubicle, looking at the snap-on tool girl over his desk, for about 20 minutes as his sales manager talks about the Warriors. He then goes back to you and says, "we can do $159 a month, plus a free Bell helmet! Just sign here!"

After a few hours of that shit, you'll be happy to pay an extra $500 or $1000 just so you can get the fuck out of there and start riding! So be ready to walk at any time. You'll be amazed at how quickly they cooperate when you get up and head out.

As Gaba posted.
Do your research before. Know what you CAN afford.
I'll repeat that, CAN AFFORD.
Be willing to WALK.

Don't fall in love with the bike till after you get home.
If you fall in love at the dealership, they got ya!

In my experience, at a dealership, nothing is more powerful than the power of walking away.

You never know when you'll stumble upon a dealer that just HAS to make a sale to make a certain number look good for the higher-ups. Some would be willing to give you the bike at COST. Just gotta be patient.

Well my only concern is that I don't want to spend anything more than 5k cash. I wouldn't mind financing but I already know I won't get accepted to since I left my job that I had and waiting to pass my board exams to work as a nurse. Which is why I need something for transportation.

How much is too much though for a ninja 300? Do the prices sound reasonable or is it too much.

I can keep up with payments and all that but I don't want to over pay. I like the sound of the cbr, but I haven't saw it yet so I might be paying for more than what I expect

I won't be scared to walk away lol but what do you think is a reasonable price?

Here's what you need to know:

2016 Ninja 300 Base MSRP: $4999

Now dealers add in (estimations):
- Delivery/destination fee - $450-600
- Setup fee (to assemble the bike for you) - $450-600
- Licensing/registration fee - $125-200
- Tax - $500-600

All in all, tack on about $1500 on top of what MSRP is and that is what the dealer's full price is. So knowing that normal price for a Ninja 300 without any discounts or rebates, you're looking AT LEAST $6500 OTD. Remember, dealers don't have much room to come down on MSRP as they only have at most 8-10% of profit IF even that.

If you get anything under $6k OTD, I'd say that's a steal. Even anything just over $6k is a good price for a brand new Ninja 300. Keep in mind, these numbers are for the base model only. The ABS and KRT edition will cost an additional few hundred more.

I'm guessing dealer invoice is about $4700. Add tax and about $400 for setup, freight and DMV stuff and $5600-5800 seems about right. Subtract $300 if you don't want ABS, but if you're going to be commuting, please get ABS.

$5000 down and you can put the rest on financing.

SF Moto offers subprime financing and also has a crapload of leftover 2015 300s.

I'd suggest dropping by.

So around 5800 with abs is a good pricing?
