What will it take to convince you of climate change?

When the ocean currents change after the wind currents change.
This is what makes steamy jungles into deserts,

that and a few million years.

I wonder if I'll see the Gulf stream disappear, and England and the North Sea freezes.
 
Half the country is covered with smoke from wildfires and I've had a tough time breathing for the first time in my life. Oh yeah and Americas fourth-largest city is pretty much underwater. Or as we call it now, a totally normal week.

But you know something something greedy lying climate scientists and mumble mumble Al Gore.

I agree with you completely. The argument about what the cause is doesn't really matter. Can we slow down the effects? How?

What's interesting is that typically the people that believe we are at fault are typically the ones that say "How can we fix it?" and the ones that deny it is human's fault are the ones typically saying "Yeah but you can't prove it"
 
Here are my closing thoughts, and then maybe a mod can close this thread:

It's not your fault any more than it is mine. If climate change caused by global warming is the result of human activity, then all of us who live in a resource-consuming society like ours is responsible. It doesn't really matter who you vote for, what kind of car you drive or even if you're a vegetarian.

Even teg916, who lives for saying shit to make liberals mad, agrees that climate change is human caused, at least to some extent.. I guess I see the point that we don't know how much, but I think everyone agrees it's more than enough to fuck shit up on a global scale. Arguing about the degree of human impact is like arguing about how much punching an elderly person contributes to their death.

So now I ask you two things: what's the worst thing that will happen if I'm wrong compared to what's the worst thing that will happen if you're wrong?

And finally, if denying there's a problem IS the problem, why don't you want to be part of the solution?

The issue at heart here is not whether or not climate change is real. It clearly is and there's even a chance they were are impacting it significantly. The problem is that there is no way we are ever going to be able to make the changes necessary to stop it and, even if we could, it's probably far too late to stop what's coming. It is what it is. We are animals, part of the system, we're impacting our environment and we're just going to have to deal with that impact. The genie is not being put back into the bottle.

There are flies all around my house. The world is being taken over by flies! Do something, damn it, before it's too late. Half the country is not covered in smoke, now is it? And Al Gore is full of shit. He uses over 8k in carbon credits per month and likes to water ski with his grandkids. He ain't doing that with wind power.

And that a low lying coastal area split by multiple waterways that have been overrunning their banks for thousands of years, flooded during storms that have been occurring for thousands of years?

wow this is a pretty long thread ... anyone mention anything about cows farting and their gas contributing to the greenhouse effect? there was a study or studies that led to the recommendation to raise fewer cows ... but don't we all fart? it may a collective cause ...

Do you really believe that it would be in our self-interest to cut down the forest, and bury all the trees?

What about environmental change? Are the most commonly detected drugs, or byproducts of drugs, worth considering as unintended consequences worth mitigating? Thinking that climate change is the only threat to humanity, totally sells short humanity's self destructive creativity!
