What will it take to convince you of climate change?

With the record breaking temps lately, this seems like a good time for a thread bump.

Friend of mine in Seattle managed to cook an egg on the sidewalk over the weekend.

It will be interesting to see how long the disbelief can withstand overwhelming evidence that affects their lives.
We've seen how pervasive willful ignorance can be in this country, especially when it gets reinforced by flaming assholes with large audiences.

oh hell yes. We got these Heat Domes in summer and we have Ice Domes or whatever they call them in the winter. It's fuckin bizarre. It's happening so much faster than probably most of us can imagine. Europe has been cookin for a couple of weeks.

What's really interesting is that we here in the Bay Area seemed to be squeezed between the two hot zones and our temp is subnormal inland.

I am sitting here in my office in Walnut Creek and it's as cool as Richmond outside, with a strong breeze. Very abnormal for July. It's gotta have something to do with the giant heat wave up north. And I fear the Sauron's Eye of heat shifting down on us, if that can even happen.

April and May were strangely cool and windy here in WC as well. There was just one real heat wave and it's just bizarre.

Hard not to feel like we're doomed. But things always turn out a bit different than our worst fears so who knows.

I'm all the way out here in Western NY, where the weather is very... extra. I'm still acclimating to east coast summers with the temperate heat and humidity. But with only two years under my belt I'm already noticing the summers are getting hotter and the winters getting shorter.
