I never watched it. I'm kind of hit or miss on Steve Martin movies.

Tomb Raider looks good, the girl is hot and a good actress. I liked the original Tomb Raider.

In this case, I am pretty clear that you attacked me first with the unnecessary comment regarding "debbie downer". If you were so self-aware perhaps you'd realize I am only responding in kind. I am not at all confused.

Also, you keep saying you don't want to get drawn into this discussion, which is fine, and then you proceed to do the opposite. I can tell you now I'm never going to back down when I think I'm right, so the next move is yours.

Rotten Tomatoes has the fan reaction at a little below 50%. I don't fully trust those numbers since that film was a lightning rod for troll behavior, and with enough shitheads and keyboards, those numbers are super easy to game.

Whatever. Not my problem if people can't enjoy a great film.
 
Great is subjective. I was bored for most it, didn’t like the characters, didn’t like Luke, and lost it after the whole casino heist. It’s not your problem but you’re acting as if it was objectively “great”. I’ll probably never rewatch it like I have the originals.

That film is great insomuch as that's my opinion on it. It really doesn't affect me that people hated it. I think that's their loss, but then again, that's my opinion.

That the film's detractors went so far as to hijack the social media accounts of Kelly Marie Tran is objectively shitty. That is a factual statement that I will happily back up with facts and citations.
 
That's obviously ridiculous and I do not advocate it. I think she's a fine actress I just didn't dig her character shoe-horned in. Your opinion is obviously fine, I get a lot of people liked it and I respect that.

To be clear: I wasn't trying to suggest you ran with that crowd or advocated that behavior just because you didn't like the film. I was just providing it as an example of what I find objectively bad, instead of subjectively good.

Most analysts have placed the fan figures on bots. The haters have been running their bots to down vote that movie since it first came out.

Back when I worked for an online gaming media outlet, we would do annual tournament voting campaigns for dumb stuff like "best video game character." 4chan trolls alone was solely responsible for Bub (from the Taito game Bust-a-Move) winning by a complete and utter landslide.

Different scene, same crime. Only now instead of fouled up video game character voting, we get questionable movie popularity, and even more questionable politicians.

By that rational Boaty McBoatface is a crime. Honestly, I blame people who put out poles or voting by the public with zero controls. They're asking for it. And yes I'm blaming the "victim".
