Starting a suspension rebuild, I bought used ten years ago, previous owner had it set up for his weight, 300/400 lbs.
Seat has sagged too, new foam is to be, along with new foam for my AS interior.

Front suspension was set up with no sag under its own weight, with a heavy compression damp/travel stop. Way too much for me, goat roads would hammer my shoulders.

Now the boingers have leaked out, winter set in, shade tree is gone, time for wrenchin.

Parts are in shop, forks will finally yeld the secrets within, then a change for my riding happiness.

I have been overloaded on my search for rear shocks. Amazon, no way to limit search, any and all shocks for everything and quote marks will not work to limit search groupings any more. Ohlins, generic models, no specific applications, not in stock.
I need parts houses, distributors,

I don't know if it's the same for this model, but I had to redo the forks on a friend's thruxton of the same era and putting in CBR 600 f3 adjustable internals (and upper tubes iirc) was a straight swap and upgrade

I got the forks back, I was told that there was a longer preload spacer, almost to coil bind, inside to firm them up. Don't know about oil weight/level. All stock inside, 15 w, no upgrades
I have the Thruxton fork caps with preload, with tension this time.
Now it rolls,
Still shopping for rear shocks.
Seat in progress.

I did get into this website somewhere for a quick glance and found it all about Harley and bailed. That didn't make any sense to me, but I left it to look elsewhere.
Triumph has been good for parts, despite what I was told when I brought in the forks. Stock shocks are available @ $335.00 each. What I had was a small upgrade with three click damper adj. Looking for better, got a local line for Ohlins, that may pan out.

That top page sent, thanks for that, now it makes sense, NOT just Harley.

OP,have you consider Hagon? they are quite popular in the UK....

I haven't looked at England for shocks, yet.
Ktech shocks above, are "Not in stock". They look alot like "Race Tech" shocks, but don't have compression damping adj.
I can't tell if the price is for a pair, or each.

It's for a pair. Brisa at GP Suspension may be able to help you find something. She's resourceful.

I did get sticker shock by ordering 2 in the quantity box, BIG $$$$.
Glad I don't need all 4.

I got my moto seat back and new interior cushions, back to riding high @ the dinner table.
Get to test the front end & seat, and see what I have now, on to shopping in SLO.

Three choices, one fully adj 14", C & R clickers, & preload,
or, preload and three click adj, short 13" BO'ed and 14" ordered
So, pretty much what I had before, better name.
On the way.

What's brand? We just built a high end HD shock and dyno tested the shit out of it. In doing that, we tested several competitor brands. One well named high end brand was close in performance with a bit less adjustability. Other, not cheap units had little to no adjustment (3-4 clicks of actual adjustment in 20 clicks available).

Ohlins, black & chrome, $800. range.
I'm working off a glance at the screen, as to what is coming.

Dyno time, that will tell tales, with nowhere to hide.
I'm hooked on a dyno show, Engine Masters now, the sciency part of building engines from aftermarket, what works, and why.

Dyno graphs on the Ohlins?

Now fully installed, and in need of tuning, both ends.
Time for some goaty roads, a week day roll on the back way to Cambria?
Tourists here for the 3 day weekend, my park filled up.

Another pair of shocks from Ohlins Thailand.
First, suspension on the mini, allowed it to be a real usable bike not hampered with crashing suspension.
Since Triumph moved the classic line to Thailand, easy to get upgrade shocks too. I just needed access to southeast Asia marketing.

What I aquired, ,

Trying to figure out what the shock dyno looks like, how it works, and stable oil temps, how much heat generated?

Went thru my moto papers, and did find a receipt for progressive fork springs from previous owner, while looking for the one for the shocks.
I have stiffer springs over stock, I don't know by how much.
I took some preload out with the thruxton fork caps, I need to pull the caps for the preload plug, to shorten some more.
Still haven't achieved any sag at the front.
My old shocks had Icon springs, I'm guessing Icon, and rebuildable, but tossed.
Gonna get re tired today, before the rain hits.

Progressive rate or brand?

Have you taken all the preload out of the front?
