Hi All

Looking around CL to buy another bike and noticed that the 2009 and up ZX6Rs seem to be cheap for the year/mileage, can't find any other 600 for the same money and the same age/miles. Is there something wrong with these bikes that's keeping the price low? (Aside from that fairing design being nearly the ugliest kawi fairing i've ever seen) There's even a 2013 636 listed for $8 grand with 7500 miles on the clock, am I missing something?

Am I smoking crack and $8grand isn't as good a price as I think it is?

Kawis don't seem to hold their value as much (except for the 1st gen 10r's)

I think it's because n00bs go directly towards Honduh and Yamaha for the brand image.

They are ugly and horrible bikes. Don't get one.

what makes em horrible?

agreed on the ugly factor

I reckon she's being facetious, as she has one listed in her profile.

I think Reli nailed it on the head. Kawis are not very popular, but make some badass bikes.

What happened to selling all your bikes for the H2?

shows you how well i understand sarcasm! hahaha

my daily ride took a sh!t so i have to replace it with Something just cannot figure out what, i was leaning towards a particular kitted out '06 R6 but then started seeing these basically brand new 6Rs and things got complicated and i guess theres also the suzukis

for the H2 that i will rely on good ole fashioned leverage ... maybe sell my 4runner to come up with the downpayment

I dunno, kind of a fan of the looks of the 09-12 zx6rs; the tail section looks like a scorpion tail. The monster edition ones are especially attractive to me but I'm probably a closet squid so there's that.

No idea on the quality or performance, but I know one guy who liked his 09 Kawi well enough.

The looks is really up to the rider. Most people dont like them, but I do.

I would say that the 09 zx6r is one of the most comfortable sports bike ive ridden. Worth looking into imo.

FWIW, the '10 model came with a few improvements according to wikipedia:

The 2010 ZX-6R is changing once more with an improved engine and slipper clutch. The exhaust pre-chamber has more space and also limits exhaust noise giving the rider a smoother ride. New double bore intake funnels features two available heights which gives performance upgrades in both high and low engine speeds. The front seat is now lower.

interesting maybe that helps explain some of the difference in the prices (although there was a 2011 and the guy wanted 6 grand, i was like wow that's a steal...)

If I remember correctly, the 2009 ZX6R suffers from the most idiotic oil filter placement. Who puts the oil filter on the top of the crankcase? :wtf

japanese guys with Reeeeeeeeeally small hands?

(wow look at barf coming thru with the info!!)

You could buy those 09 zx6r's insanely cheap new in 2010.. like in the mid 6 thousand cheap in some areas. My buddy bought one in the mid 6's brand new in San Diego IIRC. Crashed it with a few thousand miles on it, but that's another story.

That's probably part of why they are so cheap used.

Sorry boyz, I couldn't help myself.

the 09 zx6r what the 600cc shoot out, track and street, IIRC. and If you think the bike is ugly, my usual response is you can't see your bike when you are riding it.

Personally, I think people treat bikes like cash. So when they need money, they some times sell them cheap. I think that is why prices vary, but an 09 is a 6 yr old bike. no electronics on it.

Nothing wrong with the zx6r. and for years all the 600cc supersports have been very similar in performance, so it comes down to personal preference, maybe ergonomics and suspension.

Don't listen to me, get something you like and want.

If you want to swing by some time, I can show you my zx6r, which is not stock.

There was a dealer somewhere in Texas or Georgia or something that sold his last allotment of 2nd gen 10r's for around that price too. They weren't nearly as popular as the 04-05.

sounds like a test ride of the 2013 636 is in order.

It'd be my choice for a new 600 from anytime over the last 8 years. In 2006, Yamaha destroyed their streetability and comfort, and Suzuki started looking like Star Trek The Next Generation. As for the 600RR, no thanks, they've always felt like cheap crude toys to me.

agreed to me it comes down between the zx6r and the gsxr

considering the R6 because the one in particular already has the steering damper exhaust piggyback electronics quickshifter fresh tires brembo cylinder fork internals aftermarket shock etc. and its like ugh i dont want to go back through buying all that stuff again for a new bike ..sigh at a minimum cant live without braided lines and upgunned forks and the stock exhausts are just too clunky not to replace by which point you need aftermarket fueling blah blah

i hate this hobby
