are getting expensive...
I've been doing a lot of 2-up riding lately. I was wondering does 2-up riding improve your street riding ability?

2 up requires smoother inputs/controls

smoother = faster

generally speaking.

2-up riding on a sport bike makes you wonder why you ever bothered asking your lady to ride with you.. Gold Wings rock..

Need a standard type bike for two up, unless the pillion is really tiny IMHO. Lee Park's Total Control has a chapter on two up riding and is worth reading. Your bike needs to be set up differently for two up riding. http://www.lazymotorbike.eu/tips/pillion/

Amen brother!

At first I was really bummed that my girlfriend (at the time) didn't want to ride on the back. Now that I've taken a couple of female friends for rides... I avoid it like the plague... if I end up with a lady that really loves to ride 2-up maybe a sprint or VFR will find it's way into the stable. :ride

You can have your under-age girls. I prefer a woman who knows which way to lean, in bed and on the back of a bike.

if there are octupuss hairs or strangles of seaweed in the garden of punani land, i automatically GTFO

i dont want any weird super curls or have to adventure through the "forever forest" This shit isnt the lord of the rings, and my quest only takes like 2 minutes. Plus im usualy not ready for any sequel or trilogy action until some episodes of LOST have been watched and ive had my nap and a moto ride.

haha god i embarassmyself anychance iget

I've found 2-up riding to be a fantastic exercise in being smooth - any rough inputs are magnified with an additional 100 or so pounds on the passenger seat. If I don't have a passenger, I'll generally pass on a street ride.

+1 Quickly-adjustable suspension also helps.

Totally agree. I love having an Ohlins shock on my Kawasaki - it lets me adjust compression damping on the fly :)

I travelled from Portland, OR, to Laguna Seca two-up on a 600. I think it was more fun with company than without.
I totally agree! But , I'd rather that company be in the form of another person on their own bike. Sport bikes are just not meant to carry passengers...

Whats up Mikey!
After riding with a passenger it feels like as if you were running with ankle weights then having them removed.

Good point Rex :) In my case, I have two counter points:

1. I get plenty of chances to run during trackdays. On public roads, it's more of a fun job - ankle weights aren't an issue.

2. It's a lot of fun to hear my passenger's impressions after the ride. After a few laps on the back of my GSXR at Thunderhill, one said it was as exciting as "all of the rollercoasters in the world put together - times infinity".

On the street, they're usually giddy with excitement after the ride. On the track, they're usually wide eyed, short of breath, and nearly speechless.

It's fun :)
