Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

    • Comments within a sale thread should be on topic and educational. Aggressive critiques and inside jokes will not be tolerated. Don't fuck it up, because the next step is disabling the "reply" feature entirely.
    • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.

I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma double cab 4x4 for sale. I got it from my uncle who was the original owner I still have the window sticker!! Truck is in great contition garaged most of it's life. This car is almost fully loaded. Comes with Toyota oem dealer add ons and after market add ons. I'm looking to get 12200 cash obo. These Tacoma are hard to find with 4 doors and 4x4!!

I've been looking into getting a truck and don't understand why they are so expensive. Someone edumacate me. One could get a 2010 Honda Accord for $16k so what am I missing in terms of trucks?

Wish I could swing the mula for this truck, such a beauty!
 
Well the Toyota Tacomas hold their value really well as you can see if you are in the market for one. Tacomas are great trucks, not too big, and they run forever, 350k easy. You can find them for cheaper but the double cab ones which are 4 doors and 4wd plus V6 are very rare for 2001-2004 so their prices are a bit higher than 2wd v4 reg cab ones. If you look around my price is actually average so its not prices cheap or too high. Good luck with finding a truck

It's kind of hard to throw a thousand pounds of gear in the back of an Accord and go back country camping or skiing or to the dumps, or do a track day or tow a boat to the lake or...Well you get the idea :twofinger

that's a short bed and the older 4 doors only came in a short bed, right? I'm in the market for a 4 door regular bed...pretty sure only the current gen offer that combo.

On another note, this would be great for anyone who doesn't have a truck but wants something to take up to the snow this year....
 
yes the first gen double cabs only came in short beds. bump you can fit 2 bikes on the back plus ill throw in a cab extender!!! so its like a reg bed!! :)
