Can someone help me ? I bought this battery for my 2008 CBR 1000rr, same as the OEM battery. Please check the photo of the terminals from the bike : As you can see, the POSITIVE terminal from the bike (red color with longer terminal end) is designed to connect with the NEGATIVE side of the battery. I am confused how that can be. Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

Not that uncommon for different battery companies to flip-flop connection sides. Flip the battery 180 degrees and mount it that way, if the cables reach. Otherwise take it back and exchange for a different brand. Make sure to look at them before you leave the store :)

Battery is correct confirmed by polarity shown on Yuasa website and Shorais site. Most likely the cables have been moved to accommodate another battery.

Look at the pic, I don't think that's correct because the positive (red) cable is clearly physically longer than the neg (black) cable. The battery has an indent spot built into it for the longer spot cable. On the one OP got, however, it's flip flopped.

I think cables are stock, aftermarket battery just switched the connectors for whatever reason.

Where is the old battery. Please post a picture side by side. They come with connections on either side.

Take a look at the Honda parts diagram for the battery on a 08 CBR1000RR. YTZ7S is specified as original equipment. A top battery manufacturer doesn't casually switch terminals on a battery spec'd for a specific model. The diagram also shows terminal connections which should clarify this for anyone. That absolutely is the correct battery. You can look these up on any Honda dealers website.

According to the Honda shop manual the battery + and - are backwards but the bike is right...

YTZ10S too big to fit. The Batt lays on its side and the + cable bolts to the terminal that faces up (front side when battery upright). Larrys photo shows YTZ7S with + cable attached on right in picture. Hondas own parts diagram agrees with OP's picture. Go to Yuasa catalog at yuasabatteries.com and you can see YTZ7S listed for 08 CBR. Click on battery part number and you get specs which will show YTZ10 will never fir without modifying the location. Shorai makes li-on in that size and lists the batt with the same terminal location as the YTZ7S. I could probably find more but pretty sure all 3 references are not wrong.

Forgot to state I am wondering if OP got his bike year wrong :rolleyes. His terminal orientation matches the '06-'07 years

Yuasa website lists YTZ10S for '07 and YTZ7S for '08. What a difference a year makes.

OP could measure his battery box and confirm available space. Here are the dimensions of both batteries:
YTZ7S: 4 7/16" x 2 3/4" x 4 1/8" - 4.6 lbs
YTZ10S: 6" x 3 7/16" x 3 11/16" - 7 lbs

Larry's pic from factory shop manual shows 08 model and looks to match OP's pic. I looked at the parts diagram for the 07 and cables are different and solenoid appears different. He needs to lay the battery on its back with the terminal facing up. The battery terminals are set up to bolt cables on top or the front side. This application uses the front side location. The OP's pic shows the battery upright. Once he puts it in correctly everything should line up fine. Glad we don't have to deal with those damn vent tubes anymore.

More shop manual clarity which supports stever that OP's batt photo is correct once its laid on its side...

Figured out where STG came up with YTZ10S. Although their model year chart is wrong i believe. The ABS models starting in 2009 use the YTZ10S. The ad pictured states 08-19 but I could not find an ABS model listed for 08. In the 09 parts list they (Honda) refer to the ABS version as a CBR1000RA instead of RR just to distinguish it from the non ABS.

Nice work Steve... just how many years did you work behind a dealers parts counter???

You do tend to find the details matter when behind the parts counter or service counter. The OP's pic was a big help because the cable and arrangement of components in the battery area matched the Honda parts diagrams. Didn't realize Honda changed the designation for ABS model. All the posters were supplying more pieces to the picture and then I noticed hey the battery's supposed to be on its side. Didn't want the poster to take the battery back and have the parts dudes talking smack about guy who couldn't figure out how to install he battery. BARF has got your back dude!:cool

I get what you are saying about installing the battery on its back. Doing that the wires will reach the terminals. Yay! But the battery's space around the "+" terminal don't seem to accommodate the wide red cap :dunno. Confused.

Rick the cable end of the terminal is bent up and then back to clear the battery case. If you look at OP's picture closely you can see the first bend in the terminal. My RC51 has similar cables at the + battery connection and on the starter solenoid. What throws us off at first look is the space next to the negative terminal that appears to be for the cable but since the battery lies on its back that doesn't come into play.
