:wtf. im a supporter of spec software, not spec bikes. dont bother putting words in my mouth when u dont understand what i typed. u misunderstand my prev post.

the series has introduced new TIRES with a completely different character to the last ones, much less front grip and much more rear grip. they are also now using a diff rim size. this is the largest change GP has made in a long time. given that the bikes are designed around the tires, i was expecting some change in their outward appearance. all that has nothing to do w/ spec software.

i guess GP bikes are just so good now that even changes in tires only require a small adjustment to weight distribution, which can be accomplished with minor changes. except the Ape of course, their bike sucked so we are going to see much larger changes.

I don't see how a change in tires, while significant, would impact any outward appearance changes beyond something minor. Even substantial geometry changes or Yamaha moving their gas tank around would be pretty easily hidden under existing body work with minimal changes.

The teams are probably already so overwhelmed with the existing changes that putting a new body together, including the tooling, wind tunnel testing, and "mass" production just isn't possible.

i can only answer that w/ an example from prev years: most agree now that Duc's major problem with the GP14 was weight distribution and packaging. their implementation just didnt work for the Bridgestones and didnt provide enough front-end feel. unfortunate for them, they couldnt change it with things that could be "hidden under existing bodywork". the engine was too long and couldnt be moved appropriately, the swingarm was too short, the wheelbase was too long, etc etc. so, we got the GP15, a radical re-design.

i wouldnt say i was expecting THAT large of a change due to the Michelins. but i was def expecting something more than normal chassis setup changes. i was fully expecting one of the factories to hit the limit of their adjustment and to need to move something major. but no-go on that one. it seems that Jorge and Rossi havent favored the fuel tank tail, so we wont even get that innovation.

funny enough, the GP14 weight distribution might be working better for Michelins than it ever did for Bridgestones.

Short interview with Gigi Dall'Igna from MCNews Australia about working with Casey Stoner.*

excerpt:
Your first thought when you saw Casey back on a Ducati at Sepang?

"I worked with Casey briefly in 2005 when he rode an Aprilia 250cc but it was something special to see him on a Ducati. In the Ducati world he is very popular. He came to our factory Christmas party in Bologna in December and got a seven minute standing ovation. It is important for the Ducati brand that he came back to us."

*Check out all those prepositional phrases in my lead!

i swear that Duc didnt like Stoner after he took that break for lactose-intolerance and effectively pushed him out. where the hell is all this coming from? maybe Vitto Guareschi was the source of the Stoner-hate inside Duc.

Suddenly everyone likes Casey Stoner and Chad Reed. No one can explain why. :laughing

I'm sure they realized how lucky they were to have him when he went to Honda and they ran around like a monkey fucking a football with Rossi.

Damn I really need to purchase my motogp video pass

i am trying really really hard to stick to my guns and not pay for a videopass this year. im trying to vote with my dollars against a shitty media player that failed numerous times last season during live races without even an apology from dorna

I am surprised at what Casey has to say about Livio Suppo. I always thought they got along well since they moved from Ducati to Honda also around the same time.

Stoner dropping some bombs there:

Stoner played down the significance of Honda spurning him as a potential stand-in for Dani Pedrosa last year in his decision to move teams.

"Things weren't perfect before that already," he said of the Honda relationship.

"My tests did not seem to work well, they wouldn't use my capabilities.

"I wasn't there just to make some money, do a few laps and that's it. I wanted to be involved, and when there was a problem I wanted to help.

"But someone at Honda did not want this. It's as if they thought I wanted to return to racing and cause problems."

He denied that Marc Marquez himself had created tensions over Stoner's presence.

"Marc doesn't care who he races against. He likes battles, with or without me wouldn't change a thing for him," Stoner said.

"But people around him thought differently.

"It was a disappointment, I was just there to help.

"Nobody would use my information or listen to my advice."

Stoner reserved particular criticism for Honda team boss Livio Suppo, who he had also worked with in his first stint at Ducati.

"He has never understood me, because he has never listened to me," he said.

"Had he listened to me and believed me, everything would have been easy.

"I don't need to race to find the passion, I can enjoy myself with my bikes away from this."

Read Mat Oxley's latest about Honda and what kind of company they are. That'll shed some light.

I did read it but it has nothing to do with Honda not putting resources ahead of time into their satellite teams. That doesn't really have anything to do with "doing it their own way". There isn't exactly an option to opt out of using the spec ecu.

i feel like honda are dragging ass this season because they have the excuse of the compulsory ecu's

Stoner won the ship for duc. Nobody else has since, even GOAT.

They wont forget that

agreed. Plus the shit show of last year with rossi / mm has still left a bad taste in my mouth. The only thing that could fix that is Rossi doing well and MM failing this upcoming season :laughing

I think his direct management wasn't happy with him. They were trying to build their own careers and he was screwing them.

The UPPER management understood. Fortunately Gigi see's the bigger picture and EVERYONE seems to want to work/ride for/with him. Wouldn't be surprised to see Casey do it because of him.
