wow. that's gorgeous.

... that’s one crazy rock ... :laughing

It is really cool John! If you have not seen it in person you must. Your KLR will make it no problem. In 2017 Merlin had his DR650 out there and Dima rode his KTM 640. We leave the luggage back at basecamp to lighten the load. It is an easy day loop from BOLA.

Great Pics Eric!

CJ,

I looked back at my GPS tracks. The oasis is in San Jose de Gracia North East of the high road between San Juanico and San Ignacio. We were looking for a trail that took us up to the top of the Mesa as I remember. At the very end of the road we found a small church and behind it a small creek filled with lush plant life. It felt very out of place in Baja where everything is so dry.

Thanks Tom. Did you find the trail over the mesa? That was the trail I wanted to find this year. Think I identified it (the trail up to the top) on google earth before the trip and the terrain looked rideable once on top. Bummed I didnt get to try it this year, perhaps next.

John

The route into Window Rock from the West is totally doable by anyone. The route east out is much tougher single track. But no reason someone couldnt go out there via the easier west section and return the same way instead of making a loop. The fauna and views are also fantastic from the west. :thumbup

Oh this is GREAT to know!

This year we planned on doing a little fishing, riding, and swimming the Bossdog. We spent a year planning for this trip, recruited Nick, bought new bikes, and squirreled away some $$$

Prepping the Sprinter for boat hauling.

Betas prepped new tires, dropped 2 teeth on the front sprocket, chains adjusted.

We opted to go with 3 gallon tanks and carry 7 liters of fuel in auxiliary roll up jerry jugs. These work really well as they fold flat when empty. They lack tie down points so I sewed up canvas bags with multiple tie down points.

Finally on the road a day late do to an unfortunate mishap at home.
With the diesel goober driving during the night we make good time arriving at National City at 5:45AM. :thumbup

We cross the border at Tijuanna without incident. No one seems to notice that I'm sitting on a cooler wedged between the seats. :laughing

We drive and drive and drive and drive until finally we are Mama Espinozas!!!

With our bellies stuffed it's about 2:30PM and we know we have a lot more driving ahead. The plan is to make BOLA by nightfall.

Parts of the road are pimpled with potholes and it's slow going. We opt to camp just south of Catavania. Baja sunrises are magic. Even simply parked along the highway the day's greeting is amazing. I'm posting a lot of pics of our first Baja sunrise.

We arrive Friday morning in BOLA, dump the trailer and go exploring in the van. We find a quiet beach, park the van, and let the Bossdog run free.

The water is clear and inviting and I believe it's here that Goober strips naked ad jumps in.
