2023 F1 Thread *SPOILERS*

Max again. It can’t be as easy as he’s making it look.
The RB is simply that much better than the other cars.

Sainz did a good job of keeping Verstappen behind him for the first 17 laps, but when Verstappen finally got past him, you could see that it was purely a matter of the RB being able to take lines through the corner faster than the Ferrari could do. I guess setting #8 probably gave Verstappen more power to get past Sainz, RB probably wanted to keep the load low on the engine, but they probably decided that they didn't want Verstappen to get frustrated and do something too aggressive.

Mercedes still has work to do, Ferrari is faster but their execution from the pits has been lacking all season.

Every dominant driver has been in the best car. This guy has been flawless, never cracking under pressure or any other errors, driving like a robot.
Question now is where does he rank amongst the greats.

He'll be ranked up there for sure. Never been a Max fan. Never been a hater either. I just dislike Christian Horner's punchable face.

It's easy to be flawless when you don't have to push to the 99.9% with the car.

Ten in a row had never been done not even by Schumacher.
Got to make the most of what you’re given and Verstappen has certainly done that.
If you’re discarding achievements simply because of a superior car than who makes up your all time top ten list.

I am 100% a Max Hater, but I must agree with what Blankpage said- he has been driving without error. I just wish that the races were a little less boring. I should watch F2, because F1 is getting boring.

He certainly has made the most of what he's got.

Usually, when there is a superior car, the teammate is the biggest threat. We've seen that with Schumacher, Hamilton, Vettel, etc.

I still wonder what the issue is for Perez, there is no way he is 0.5 slower than Verstappen, he may not be as good, but he's not that much inferior, nor Verstappen that much better. I think that's a contributing factor to the 10 in a row.

Perez seems to "suck" on the brakes. We already knew that he's good with tire wear. That usually implies lighter on the inputs - brakes and throttle included. But I didn't expect him to take THAT long to pass Sainz, especially when the pace advantage became so obvious.

I agree that Perez is making Max's streak easier by not competing for wins as often.

I prefer it in many ways.

Each week there is a reverse grid sprint race and the next day the main race.

In the sprint the 10th fastest qualifier starts first etc.

Makes for a highly contested championship.

Virtually no team "orders" favoring one driver over the other.

Cars are closely matched so the inverted top 10 grid does not usually showing the fastest qualifying car winning from 10th place.

The new F2 spec car for 2024 is pretty sexy. It prob helps that it looks more like the current F1 car and I'm used to that design.

in 4-wheels, it is when the car's 5% better than the others. (well, a tad easier). Dominant car and team and dominant car/ team. Makes everything easier.

But..that was a great race! About the only one worth watching this year. Not anywhere near as good as MotoGP, but good none the less.

MotoGP paled in comparison to Moto3.

He'll need to stay in F1 for some time to get up there, but he's got all the +'s in the formula to do just that. He's a truly great driver. 10 wins only builds his confidence which allows him to sit behind other drivers and wait them out, etc.

Perez seems to "suck" on the brakes.

I believe that's because of the car's built for Max's style: front biased.

I know the racing is legit, I just can't get on board with it.

Maybe it’s Max that 5% better than the rest

Could be, but that would equate to 2% or so? Car's more than 50% of the advantage.

If Perez goes, who takes his place?

Horner is probably thinking "Does it matter?" :laughing

I think RB will push hard to get Norris. I don't see McLaren improving enough or RB slowing down enough to prevent Norris from jumping at an RB seat.

That means Verstappen IS going to retire soon, IMO.
