2024 Formula 1 thread ***spoilers***

Typical Horner BS, they are the first to cry about other people's actions and the first to cry over minor penalties....

Horner labels Verstappen’s penalty ‘harsh’ as he gives his take on 'frustrating' collision with Norris

I don't know how the hell you call the meaningless penalty 'harsh', it amounted to not even a light slap on the wrist and essentially meant nothing despite knocking Norris out of the race. That was 100% Verstappen's fault, IMHO, and Norris was taken completely out. At the very minimum Verstappen should have been DQ'd.

Max moved 3x to block Norris while already braking, with only the last resulting in a crash. That's illegal - you aren't allow to change your line after the start of braking and especially not to block another driver. Any other team would have warned their driver over the radio - maybe due to a message from the stewards - at least after the 2nd occurrence of some illegal driving. Both the stewards and RB dropped the ball on preventing the incident. Not enough was done before the crash to stop the illegal driving.

I wouldn't expect him to say anything else.... :dunno

Apparently there is a huge rift forming between Jos and Horner, and with the succession issues going on with the parent company things could get interesting. :laughing

Nothing about the conspiracy that parked George and allowed Lewis to win? 😆

Just not sure what McLaren was thinking leaving Lando out there those extra laps and the subsequent tire selection. :dunno

McLaren and Lando caved under that pressure. But it’s cool that a few missteps still got them a haul of points with 3rd and 4th. That car is fast!

I’m almost stoked Lando didn’t put on Mediums. Um I mean, Get in there Lewis! Merc progress is looking interesting. They brought more front suspension upgrades to better control ride height. They worked in weird conditions, hopefully it works everywhere.

Looks like someone told Max to be less douchy. He didn't even try to block.

Perez looking mediocre as always.

Hamilton did a great job with his PR responsibilities today, and the crowd loved it.

Fun race to watch. I wish Norris had received better strategy support. He certainly did his part today

Wow, what a place for Hamilton to win after a long drought.

Rain always makes for the most exciting races.

Ferrari and McLaren made some bonehead decisions for sure and Norris was kneecapped by a slow pit stop at the end but couldn't catch Hamilton on used softs on his new ones which was odd.

Perez has a clause where he can be fired if more than 100 points behind Verstappen.

He is currently a lowly sixth with 118 points to Verstappen's 255.

Maybe Sainz to Mercedes?

Seems his wisest move.

Hulkenberg one point behind Alonso in the driver standings which is quite shocking.

Lando is taking a lot of the blame for the mistakes. 1. He overshot his pitbox a lot, causing the slow stop. 2. His RaceEngineer was asking for tons of input on both when to pit and what tires to take. He definitely had a hand in taking Softs, and a lap later.

Asking your driver for input on tire calls is always a risk. Lewis got one right early in the race when he said no to Inters. Lando got one or two wrong. I'd bet LeClerc got a few of those calls wrong too.

It was the most interesting race of the season, not because Hamilton won but because the changing conditions levelled the playing field quite a bit.

It came down to who wanted it the most and who got lucky and made the right calls at the right times.

Great to see Hamilton, a peep away from 40 years old, notch another. You could hear the tears in his voice when he was on comms right after the win...such a great thing to hear and watch. He's gone through the crucible of humility and out the other side with another win. This win is probably one of Hamilton's personal favorites. He'll never forget this one...the entire race. Bravo. There's nothing like beating the kids and standing on top of the podium again, after all the naysayers. Epic stuff!

Yep, Jos Verstappen would never allow Carlos Sainz Sr to join

I would expect Tsunoda to move up to RB from the junior team....

Sainz to Merc would be interesting.

Unless Ferrari has something truly special in the works... :rofl yeah, I know... Lewis will disappear into the morass of race mismanagement that seems to plague the Scuderia. At least now he can wear red on his album covers. (Do they still release "albums"?)

Ferrari is still second in the standings albeit barely.

Likely will end up fourth unless they right the ship.

But I think Hamilton at first will be happy with his possible role to turn Ferrari around.

Yuki won’t drive at RB. Rumor is that his results aren’t good enough to overcome something else about him that RB doesn’t like. I’d bet it’s his attitude or remnants of it, which was a serious problem even at VCARB until sometime last year.

It’s kinda funny watching RB dig this hole. IMO they’ve fully CaseyStoner’d their car - making something that only one driver can exploit for great results. They will miss chances at a better #2 driver and their junior lineup is stuck - I bet they lose Lawson. And they’ve pissed off important ppl off the track so much that it will eventually hurt their performance, ie Newey leaving. My schadenfreude is getting better and will be complete when they lose the constructors.

They may be stuck with Yuki given some of the RB internal strife... :dunno

He's been out performing Ricciardo this year, and iirc it wasn't that long ago Ricciardo was rumored to be returning to RB.

To me the win by Lewis had that "Tiger Woods at his last Masters Win" a few years back feeling, and his move to Ferrari has the "Michael Schumacher to Merc" feel... If he helps, great, but my expectations are tempered.
