2025/2026 NFL Thread

Climber,

There will be any number of NFL head coaching opportunities open at season end. Will you be applying for any?
You thought that there was nothing wrong with 3 consecutive plays up dead center for a total of 1 yard was the way to go when the other team had center stacked their whole team for those 3 plays?

O Line needs help NOW. Can't have CMC and be a terrible run team, getting no push. Zero runs are going to chunk yards.

Wow, what a game! I figured the 49er's were going to lose because of all the injuries but I also hoped for a possible upset. They definitely caught the Rams off gaurd.

They had no business winning that game but I'll take it.

Mac Jones may not be a top tier QB but that dude is a tough SOB.
+1.

Sums it up well

They were saying how tough he was during the game, but he looked like he died when he had a cramp in his calf.

Mac Jones, Brock Purdy and Jimmy G are the only QB's to start their 49er careers 3-0.

I think that in addition to Bourne stepping up and having a great game, McCaffery is starting to show signs of his form 2 years ago. He's not there yet, especially with an anemic O Line, but I'm sure he surprised the Rams with his fights to stay on his feet and keep moving forward.

If anyone or team is surprised that McCaffery is good, they should not be working in the NFL.

Dialectic discussion, oh goody! Might I respond in kind,

Did it work? Was this course of action successful in achieving the given goal?

Have you factored the variables?
Only up three. A safety was not a desirable outcome.
Limited time. Three straight runs depleted the opponent's time outs.
Less than healthy quarterback, who might not make it around-the-corner.
A zone run-block team should be able to make three yards in three plays.
...and more.

They could have gambled. How did that work out for the team that did?

Regarding Kyle's play calling, harken back to a shootout between these two teams a few years ago. Both these guys know the other has a few pages in the play book just for each other. Last night, the 49ers ran some of those subtle plays that either breaks tendency or influences the opposing defense in a way that has yet to be exploited.

There were a few motions from pre-sets that left Niners wide open. Adams ran some great pick routes, I don't follow them, don't know if they have been running that short slant from that set but the 49ers seem ill-prepared for that chicanery.

There are games that you wonder whether it would have been worth running, not a gadget play, but some innovative line split, influence block scheme, etc. in games against lesser opponents and then...

The bag was full for this game and some of it made for the squeaky win. If you were going to split with Jacksonville and LA, this was the right way to be 1-1 after those two.

The interesting thing to me about these Niners continuing to win is that they are priming themselves at this point in the season to get healthy and REALLY go on a tear come playoff time if they can keep it up during this rough patch.

Iggles choked. They should be angry on Thursday.
What you talkin bout Willis. Denver’s defense came through. And Nix stepped up in the 4th quarter.

With that said I imagine the pundits will talk about how poorly the Iggles played and give Denver little credit.

Champs up 14-3 at the half should have won. You’re right they got outplayed in the second half. They shouldn’t have. That’s a choke in my book.

Vrabel/Maye/Patriots just beat McDermott/Allen/Bills for the last undefeated team. It is a shame that McDermott is going to waste Josh Allen's career.
