I hope all scenic view areas review their fences.

"In hopes these locations are made more kid-friendly"

How about keeping your kids away from the edge in the first place? The world is a big dangerous place, and we can't surround your precious snowflakes in safety netting and foam rubber.

At least they are not suing.

Pretty cavalier attitudes. I wonder if you would be so glib if a 3 year old HAD fallen to her death? What if you were the parents?

Tragedies CAN be averted. Yeah, parental diligence is always required, but so are SAFE fences that look over a cliff. A gap that large should never exist.

Adorable little girl..tragedy averted. Parents are responsible for this not anyone else, you always have to be aware of your environment especially when your posing your damn kids near a cliff on the beach for christsake

Things happen, so who would you sue if there was no fence and the kid accidently fell off?

You know, I remember when kids didn't have car seats, there weren't shoulderbelts, andw e were allowed to play outside. Somehow, most of us made it. Those that didn't, welllll, Darwinism.

Liability and responsibility lies with parents. However, there is a reasonable expectation of safe fences.

How would that definition of "reasonable" play out in court? Beats me.

A young child fell off the GG Bridge a while back. Slipped through a narrow gap.

A gap that large should never exist.

Have you been to the coast? The coastline is one big gap with cliffs on one side and waves on the other. And I'm not supporting a bond measure to fence the entire west coast of the US. Ever.

How about holding your kids hand? I never let go of my kids hand for the first five years of her life. That video is an example of bad parenting plain and simple.

No, never been to the coast. :rolleyes

Fact is, this is a SCENIC OVERLOOK. There are fences there, and thus a reasonable expectation of safety. You build a fence, you better hope that it holds.

I wouldn't let go of my kids, or at least tell them to stay away from the edge. But that's an easy thing to judge in hindsight.

So, the marked decrease in child mortality/injury rates for things like auto accidents and product safety means nothing to you? And how does Darwinism play into a kid flying through a windshield?

WRONG

cliffs do NOT kill kids, they are inanimate objects. Poor PARENTING kills kids.
