BTW, there is no magazine donation box for the troops at City Arms Pacifica.

huh? :wtf

this is barf after a couple of coors lights.

It's been like that for a while...

Funny thing is that coming from Kings to Alice all the bumps and crap are still there, but now it's on shitty chip seal. Improvement, fuck yeah. :laughing

I rode from 92 to Alice's on Saturday. It was just fine, considering it's a dirty mountain road anyway.

I feel like the road is eating my rubber every time I ride it. =|

Make no mistake, it is! It's a bit smoother than it was when they first did it, but it's still shit. The front walks all over the place and you can't really find a consistent line through there. Not to mention the areas around the loaded corners that are already starting to come up.

And yet the morons at CalTrans insist that "Chip seal was chosen for the SR 35 project because it is the most appropriate maintenance treatment based on the condition of the roadway." This is their official response, btw. Nevermind the fact that they never even bothered to try and remove all the bumps etc. and I think that is what irritates me the most. They didn't even make an effort to smooth out the surface. They just went with low bidder, dumped this garbage all over the road and called it good.

Oh well, it's rideable. you just have to use a bit more caution. And there are still flying rocks and shit out there. But it's rideable.

I rode from 92 to Alice's two up on my Super Tenere yesterday and again from Alice's to Saratoga later in the day. Had a blast. Shitty chip seal? What the heck are you guys talking about?

many roads that were once nice asphalt are now crap chip-seal. It's simply cities/counties trying to save money against an expensive asphalt paving job, & they clearly don't care about the dangers to riders.

what we need is someone w/deep pockets to find someone injured via chip-seal to sue the phk out of everyone involved. CAtrans, city, county, everyone. Only until a massive lawsuit is paid-out will they learn their lesson.

ALL OF YOU should be writing your (I know useless) Representative in congress. Only when lawyers get them to spit big-money on a injury related lawsuit (as in caused by chip-seal injury), & there's a huge outcry, will things change.

I been saying this since they chit-sealed RR in 1988'. It seems no one is listening to the realistic facts? Bitchin' about it here won't help; unless it riles up enough of us to do something...:x

Rode up to Alices from Hwy 1 and then left on Skyline (35) to 92, 2 up on the Capo on Friday. 35 is a disgrace :wtf :thumbdown

Its simply appalling that the contractor made such a mess of it. There are pot holes all over the place and berms of gravel in the middle of the lane.

I don't care what CalTrans' rationale for chip seal was but its all coming off and needs repairing already. What a total waste of tax revenue.

The contractor needs to be sued for shoddy workmanship and made to do it right.

What are you babbling about? It's better now...I was up there last Saturday. In fact it was so much so that I got a speeding ticket. :p

Maybe it's like the Princess and the Pea fable? Some riders here have tender posteriors? :laughing

I rode that stretch Sunday and was unaware of any problems. :dunno

I didn't like it last weekend compared to the old surface, but 2 of the still loose areas did let me know that my traction control was indeed still operating.

Exactly. And this is the axe that I grind with this. Sure it's rideable; but that is not the point. The bumps and ruts are worse than ever, and the surface is no where near as good as the surface that it replaced. This is the shame of it; They have squandered our tax dollars on a low-ball, bullshit job that has now become dangerous and will need to be re-done in just a couple of seasons. We should all be pissed about this. I came to the aid of a rider that totaled his BMW on this road because of this shit-seal surface. They stole our money, folks. They neeed to fix this shit.

Pretty much this. All the snide remarks about people who find the pavement POS, are pure bull shit. Bottom line it became worse, and we payed for it.
