3rd row SUV choices?

Yeah, I never thought I'd spend that much on a vehicle either.. But the used market is over inflated IMO and I rationalized it many ways.

First, I plan to keep this vehicle for 8-10 years as our "family vehicle". We use it for everything. Over time, that puts it at like $6k/year (not including maintenance), which seemed rational to me. New cars have more bells and whistles, but they seem to be lasting longer?

Second, the Tahoe transports my wife and two kids every day. You can't put a price on keeping them safe and in reliable transportation. If a Prius or Leaf crashes in to it, have a feeling who would win. At least upping my odds..

Third, I want to drive around in something I want and enjoy driving. Ever drive a vehicle you don't like? Fuck, shoot me now. :p

Is the Volvo XC90 T8 hybrid worth it?

The retail price on that ride is insane. Have to imagine a year old model with 30k miles should drop a lot in price.

If you followed the 1/10th rule of thumb for car purchases and made >$60,000 per year then you would be in the ball park for the annual cost.

Everyone's a bit different, I would rather own 3 different $15K cars than one $45K car. That said, if I made double what I make now, I would own 3 different $30K cars and so on :).

I don't care what other people spend their money on, I just know a car isn't "worth" $60k+ to me, unless I was getting into racing or something.
A comfortable, reliable appliance to get you from one place to another, usually constrained by traffic anyway.
I don't have to look cool, gadgets don't impress me, and you can only use so much performance on the street anyway.

New vehicle novelty wears off quick and is expensive while it lasts.
But people have the right to buy whatever makes them happy if only for a moment.
I prefer buying new to used. Yeah its the most economical method.

My mother in law has pretty much the same truck, The smaller GMC Denali. She likes to spend the money she earns so go for it.

It's worth it for us.

400 HP, supercharged, turbocharged, electric motors, and AWD. The cabin has the best interior of any current car, at any price point IMO.

Best of all, the car is SAFE!

I've always been a car guy, but stopped caring about cars when I was riding my bikes a lot. Now that i'm a parent--I find myself commuting/shuttling around in a car most of the time, and I want to enjoy the ride. My current car will also see track time.

I should have bought your V70R...

It had lived a tough city life, and we were always worried about when the next expensive thing was going to break. It drove nice and was super comfortable but a time bomb.
I actually felt a little bad for the couple with the baby from Santa Cruz who bought it.

Roll tide! Fucking Alabama man. When production moved from Canada to Lincoln, AL for the 2014 MDX (all Odyssey platformed vehicles made there now), fit and finish took a major hit. Panel gaps and paint quality got so bad, I have a hard time deciding if it's all factory or got collision repair sometimes now.

So like I said earlier, they're pulling MDX production out of there and moving it to East Liberty, OH (which makes the RDX/CR-V and has much better quality control there) for the 2018 model year

Too bad about the unreliability, those MDX seats are so damn comfortable thats almost reason enough to buy one. Much nicer than whats installed in an RDX.
Was checking one out today.

New RDX soon. Those seats will follow what's in the 2017 MDX and now the 2018 TLX with the contrast piping and so on.

Also...turbo comes back.

Thats disappointing, not having a turbo is the reason I bought an RDX. I hate turbos.

Honda is going big with turbos. All new CR-V has a 1.5 turbo on almost every trim level. Same engine in half the Civic models. For 2018, it's going in the Accord too.

RDX will more than likely get a version of the 2.0 turbo currently in the Civic Type-R.

That 3.5 V6 Honda has is a really nice engine IMO. Whats the idea of switching to turbos, weren't the last ones they tried gas guzzlers?

Everyone will be getting small engine turbos sooner or later.

The 2007-12 RDX turbo did get shittier mileage compared to the new V6 model.

I guess Honda thinks they have it figured out now. Direct injection helped quite a bit. Interesting enough, the RDX is currently the only Acura that doesn't have DI. So your RDX could be getting even better mileage over the old model then it already does.
