5 dead in limo crash on SM bridge

I wonder why none of the girls called 911 as it was happening.

Sounds like they didn't have time to... the driver called when he stopped, took a few minutes to get thru on a cell, then it took 12 minutes for the firetruck to show up.

Did the Limo driver make ANY attempt to break the windows? :|

they/he opened the door according to a news article I read and then the fire went full on boil once it got a good oxygen supply.

I though it was interesting when the driver stated when he, the driver, opened the door the fire got very intense. (Kinda like a back draft....)

Sure, that interior is going to be full of foam and plastic, all of which is basically solidifed gasoline, and it's probably starved for oxygen and above its ignition point.

I don't think people realize the rate at which most interiors (home, office, car, etc.) can burn.

just about every car fire I have been on where the cabin has stayed intact has darkened down pretty quickly, creating a very hot, smokey interior. As soon as they get a good dose of oxygen they really get going fast. Sometimes explosively. As you stated...a backdraft situation.

That and only further confirmation the door could only be opened from the outside. I wonder if this is going to lead up to a lawsuit.

:nchantr

Seeing the video(s)- I didn't see best effort,
:2cents

Ever stand by a car fire.? Heat is so intense the closer you get you feel your going to catch fire.

Not without training like I'd expect fire fighters get.

There was a TV program quite a while ago, titled Anatomy of a Disaster..or something like that.
And one of the disasters was a fire in a living room.

It went from a cigarette starting couch material, to the curtains to the ceiling, and temp spike at that point to balls of flame shooting through the air explosions of things self igniting, in less than 3 minutes.

This was all recorded on camera's set up to do this...I doubt if anyone would imagine it possible.

i thought there was flame retardant sprayed on couches these days.

The limousine company is fucked because they were transporting too many passengers. The company will squirm and try to hang it all on the driver, who will be smeared to look like the bad guy for not stopping sooner or trying to help.

If it was the wiring for the lights or the stereo or even the work done by the limo conversion company, expect them to be hung out to dry as well.

Maybe I missed it, but how do we know that that limousine was limited to 8 rear passengers? :dunno

Several reports. But one extra passenger did not make an appreciable difference in that fire.
