66? Galaxy. Worth saving?

almost died in one. idiot high school friend of my SO basically ‘stole’ (drove without permission) his dad’s old garage queen, and took a bunch of us for a midnight joyride. one of those vehicles that has enough going on to get yourself into trouble, but not enough to get yourself out. hard pass.

Early "Road Kill" episode, featured one of these, but a hard top.
390, four speed, they did get it running, short time, smoking until seized.
Failed rebuilt engine replacement, too.
Tossed it, no return episode.

But it was lookin' good.

A classic convertible... someone somewhere wants it.

Any chance the drivetrain is in a barn or onsite? Does the title show when it was issued?

60s convertibles are fairly in demand lately. somthing that far gone is probably a parts car but someone does want it somewhere

sounds like an original owner chassis. if the drivetrain can be located there's value there. check Hemmings and see if there are unrestored shells out there.

It is a 64 Galaxie 500 XL convertible. But it appears not to have the 390, 406 or 427 crossed flag eagle on the lower front fender behind the front wheel. Without that badge it probably had a 352 engine. It is probably good for a parts car. If you have the VIN contact Buds Galaxie's in Tennessee. He will tell you if it is worth anything. He specializes in 63 and 64 Galaxie restorations.

BARF delivers :hail

If you can get it for a steal why not toss a working drivetrain and just drive it as it aka rat rod style?

Wouldn't it be cool to be able to scan an object to know it's rust to solid metal composition? if I had that ability my guess is that Galaxy is somewhere between 25 and 35% rust :laughing

Reminds me of some bad body shops I used to work with. We called them "Bondo Shops".
Whenever I picked up a car from them, I brought along a magnet with me.

It would be worth a fortune if it came with the SOHC 427.
