701 sm

And I'm talking small play around jumps, not clearing doubles or jumping street humps in SF like some YouTubers

I’d get a 690 Enduro if I was planning to ride like that

Two sets of wheels, best of both worlds. I think my 701E is a perfect 50/50 bike with the two sets of wheels

I had two sets and of wheels when I had mine but it ain’t a simple swap. Between the two the rotor is a different diameter, the side stand is a different length, the steering stem cam needs to be rotated to fix the geometry between setups.
It wasn’t a case of dirt riding in the morning and motard in the afternoon.

All that jumping looks cool in the ktm marketing but 99% of buyers ain’t riding upstairs on SMC’s.

I just use the enduro size rotor on my SM wheels and the swap is a lot faster. I haven't felt the need to change the geometry between the two setups but I dont ride that aggressively in the street. About a 20 minute job to swap back and forth. I also run the same sprockets and swap over the cush drive so there's no chain adjustment.

So track day this weekend. Bought some leaded 110 which I was going to run straight but now I'm wondering if I should cut it with 93 just for $ sake. Maybe even 87 in the future. Thoughts?

anyhooo, wound up cutting it with a pump gas, 50/50. We shall see

In other news, did not think i'd like this blue sprocket at all. It's starting to grow on me though. Didn't want a steel sprocket, didn't want an aluminum one either, but the options are limited at 42 teeth so it was blue or orange. I wanted the dirt tricks one but I couldn't find it in stock anywhere. That one was chrome, which I'm also not thrilled about but figured it'd look better than blue or orange. Now i'm not so sure.

All else being equal at least blue matches the rest of the bike over the other options mentioned

ya but the color match isn't perfect. My ocd doesn't approve

Appreciate it. 501 street legal conversion sounds like a blast

looks great! buy all the husky billet parts!

Just did my valve clearance check and everything was in spec. Throttle body was extremely clean and the plugs looked perfect. I made sure the decomp weights were tight too.
Also installed a pcv with rottweilers map. Low end is extremely smooth now.

How's the butt dyno evaluation of the PCV + Rott map? I've been debating the cost. Swapped in a 15T front sprocket but still feels like it has a hole in the midrange.

The biggest thing I noticed is the bottom end feels a lot smoother. It doesn't feel like there's that much more power to be honest. It appears to make power all the way through the revs and I think I hit 100 faster than before. It's kind of idling a little off I think, it's very lopey almost like it has a big cam. I might try to run a map off of the power commander site.

Thanks. Do you have the Rott intake as well? Or just their map for stock airbox + open exhaust? I did the whole setup on my 1190r because it had a shit airbox design, and my fuel consumption really went up after I added the PCV and their map. I went from high 40s with just the Rott intake to high 30s after I added the PCV + map.

The only airbox box mod I have is throwing a KTM Evo Lid on it and I don't think it really makes too much of a difference. I had a stage 3 rott intake on my 1290 SDR and I guess that was nice but I didn't have a PCV. I do expect my mpg to drop, before the PCV I could hit about 160 miles on a tank maybe even 170. We'll see what I get on my next tank.

Anyone that installed a PCV, did your idle turn all lopey. Mine sounds like it has an aggressive cam now but it rides perfectly fine.

no

did you by chance criss cross the plug wires? Donno if that'll do what you're saying it's doing but iirc they do not fire at the same time so make sure they're on the correct plug.

Try a different map if that's not it and see if it clears up.

I did that for a little while but honestly think the 16 is way more rounded for street stuff. If you're on a sumo track the lower gear may be beneficial but honestly the bikes kinda a pig for anything really tight anyways so i just don't see the benefit. Maybe if you like to cruise between gears or something it'll fix that for you but i never had that issue.

Also, i know i sound like a broken record but i don't think the pcv was worth the cost. Fuel dongle and call it good.

I came back to this thread after a few years..

Still got my 690, but collecting dust nowadays:(
