Dude, didnt I tell you like, 2 summers ago that I wouldnt let anyone else touch my bike besides Jim Davis at Nichols?!

Hey listen here buddy, what type of bike do you ride now? I just wanted to get a second opinion.:teeth

Good to here from you again Calvin. I hope everything is OK. When you get a chance PM me and give your phone #. I want to talk to you about your racing.

I never try to get some thing when it first drops. I wait a year or two once the technology is solidified then I go cop that piece. :)

Haha, I just forwarded this to a friend of mine who has spent some time working at DNA and here is what he said after reading this thread,
"lol, that sounds a lot like how they work over there. It's not that they are overworked, more that they are overworked combined with the fact that they genuinely dislike the dealerships"

I hate to defend DNA, but the problem is with Ducati in Italy. They continually deny there is any kind of problem with the product and don't support DNA until DNA is forced to buy the bike back from the customer, and only then because DMH doesn't understand the lemon laws. Think about it. A buy back has a cost of twice the original bike price and a company like DNA/DMH really can't afford doing business like that.

Also, the dealerships aren't disliked by DNA. They sell the product and it's parts whenever they come over from Italy, (which is really a "whenever" for the factory). Just before DNA is slammed, make sure the $10 an hour dealership employee is really following up on your claim and knows the law. I'm betting it's the salaried area sales manager who actually calls on the dealers that doesn't like them cause every dealer that I knew prefered to deal with DNA direct instead of the field sales rep.

And, in case you didn't know, DMH thinks it's the American rider that causes problems with the bikes. I actually heard this from a DMH service manager as told to DNA service managers.

But yes, current DNA employees are overworked and their hands are tied. They want to help the dealer and customer as much as they can and keep thier job, but they inherited a lot of crap from previous management in NJ that is still dragging on over a year later. Don't expect to get that miracle solution for your overpriced Ducati today with a phone call or email cause believe me, yours isn't the only one. They aren't ignoring you, it's just the sheer volume that has you waiting in line.

SpA is like Inc. or Co.

As an Italian I should know... but I forget which is which.

Too bloated, runs too hot... I'd get a tiller first.

But it's a moot point, no water cooled twins right now.

-Mike-

Bloated and too hot…?! Yeah, she is but I love her…

Congratulations on the successful conclusion to your odyssey into the Realm of the 99X

Yeah, and she starts every time you hit the button....
and will for the next decade.

So don't think I'm not jealous or anything. :teeth

What exactly was the problem with your bike, Mike? Maybe I should warn my friend Marty.
<--------------
:teeth

Yeah, what was the problem? We're all ears...You menitoned leaking oil...What else was so bad about it?

Many problems. Stalling, engine woes, electrical issues,
mixture too rich, blew it's battery, blew it's ECU, blew it's
coils, shorts, bad connectors, cam pulley slipped, DP
Ti pipe was bent wrong and didn't fit right, melted a set of
lowers, wheels were 1.5 ounces out of balance from the
factory, was only making 128 hp on the dyno, digital display
constantly freaking out, tach flaking out, clutch howl,
several big oil leaks, blown clutch slave cylinder, engine
cutting out during downshifts, very hard to get it started,
constant charging issues...

The list goes on and on...

What do you think of a 94 Duc 900SS? Thinking of selling it to get a newer bike.

It's the same motor, but I am not a fan of the chassis.
The frame is a bit too open and unbraced for me, and
the fact that you have to remove the shock to check
the vertical cylinder exhaust valve irks me.

The first-gen Monster 900 is pretty much the championship
winning 888/851 chassis from the early 90's without the
good suspension bits.

I've found a few 199x Monster 900's in pretty much box
stock condition with low mileage. I set a ceiling for myself
of 4000 to spend on the inital purchase of a race/track
bike. And I'm finding several right in that price range.

I'll still have to dump 2 to 3 grand into a fox shock/99x forks,
clip-ons, rear sets, FCRs, rims, brakes, lines, exhaust, etc...

But, I'll be racing/tracking a Ducati Monster, and that's been
a "gotta get around to it" goal of mine for quite some time.
