A Challenge to Our Riding Community: The E‑Bike Kids Are Coming Up — What Are We Going To Do About It?

I'm for keeping it simple... if it has pedals it's a bike, if it doesn't it's a moto (and therefore it needs registration)
Then regulate the max battery size that the manufacturers can use on pedal bikes.
That way leo's can see at a glance what they are dealing with. Anything more confusing will be too difficult to enforce, imo.

Well, I don't like that because battery size is relevant to travel distance potential, not just max power/speed.
Don't limit how far a bike can go, as larger batteries and greater distances make the bikes much more useful and appealing

Wildy grasping @ tax laws, in the name of Safety,
Traffic Problems = make them pay for the fix.
We NEED somebody like the CCC to fix this, slap a Big NO on all this, and make it stick.

I believe now more than ever we need to support avenues that get kids outside, instead of sitting inside staring at a screen.

the angle of kids, not having anything to do, didn't occur to me

I can't possibly wrap my head around how charging money [registering and insuring] to have one makes anything related to them safer.
Oh I can... :laughing

who knew? New Jersey = conservobanners , while Calimorfia = wild west for e-motorbikes?!?!

but: uh oh... the centre of banthisbanthat is already chiming in from the ❤️ of california... :

'Epidemic levels': California's e-bike war explodes in Orange County

It was a Marin Karen Mom that sued super73 because their bikes were relatively easily modified by users to exceed 20mph assist and forced them to change their software.
Boo

I stopped in @ Nicks in Sedona for a bite, one of the last normal diners in town.
Small dirt parking lot, BBQ on the menu.
This bike has me confused, so many brake disks (3), with fat, small knobby tires, wear off the tiny knobs,
Ya got slicks now, , ,.
Where or what mine shaft, would need that much front brake on an E-bike ?
Am I supposed to go all ga, ga, over that?
What about re-gen ? got any?
Manhole sized chain ring, weak bottom bracket, not meant to be up & stomping on the pedals.
I wonder how fast?

Watching a series on ships on Paramount and as we don't pay for the highest tier there are annoying 60 second commercial every 5+ minutes showing their kid offerings.

Tons of cars taking air, motorcycle like vehicles popping wheelies, talking monster trucks flying etc.

I'm assuming this has been going on for a while now..

When I was a kid the cartoons were all about violence and jokes. :laughing

I was there yesterday, with my mini, too.
A two stroke older Van Van, not the new 200 4 stroke ?
"Bicycle" broke so many laws, starting with a Motor Vehicle, not a bicycle.
And let the moto suffer with BS laws, all for show, with expected results.

No E-motos for off road hiking trails, real pedals only, here in Sedona.
Unless you poach Pink Jeeps', tours. two track, SxS stuff.
Wilderness Areas, human powered only, no wheels

Thought about this overnite,
A race with my mini, against this E-monster, I get to pick the route.
Sedona Library, under the statue of Miss Sedona, jump on 89A north bound,
Up Oak Creek, to the Oak Creek Vista, just above the rim, from 4K to above 6K '
and back down, into Sedona, left onto 179 down to Village of Oak Creeks' Blue Moon Saloon,
Finish Line with beer in hand. Maybe 30/40 miles

Orange County is offering a buy-back over E-bikes, they want the fast ones off the road.
I wonder about recycling parts ? all getting crushed ? battery disposal ? copper saved ?
Another Knee Jerk response, throw money at it.

I see an immediate black market for bikes being stolen and turned in/sold since most of these don't have registered vins

Rolling home after Thai, I actually waved to an E-bike, in a traffic lane, doing speed limit, following motor vehicle laws.
I didn't check for a tax stamp (plate), headlight not lit, mirrors? But doing THE traffic thing.
