Having an argument with myself about which heated seat to purchase for me AT. Down to Sargent and Corbin. Sargent reviews show more comfort but Corbin seems to be sturdy. With the mixture of riding I do I am hoping to hear from other Barf members on their opinions?

i’m firmly on team corbin. my issue with the sargents i tried was that i always felt like i was scooted back and off the tank. i find the corbin comfy. i have one on my transalp and one of my dr650s. they’re firm but for all day riding i’ll take that over too soft any time.

editing to add both of my corbins are a single seat seat up which is nice for the adv type riding.

One other advantage to Corbin if you're in the Bay Area is that you can arrange to ride there to Hollister and have them custom fit the seat for you. At least it used to be that way. I owned one Corbin seat and wished I had done it that way instead of ordering their standard Ducati Monster seat. It looked good, but would have fit me better with a few adjustments.

I have never liked a Corbin on any bike I've had or ridden with one, they were wooden planks to me.

My 2c

See if you can find other riders with the same bike with seats You can sit on, or try to find a seat with a good return policy.

corbin’s are definitely better if you have natural padding like some of us.

Always seemed an appropriate comparison was a Corbin seat and a Nokona baseball catcher's mitt.

Every butt is diffrent! I'm in the Sargent's camp last 3 bikes!

I purchased a "saddlemen" seat for my concours14, now it is truly a couch-a-saki

super comfy, nice foam density, well made, fitment is perfect

I've done three Corbins, V-Rod was my ride there option.
Corbins are not soft foam but shaped foam, it holds the shape of daylong comfort.
This is why getting one done in person gives you this option of custom shaping to your butt, think, NO hot spots.
All three were street bikes.
Dirt needs weight transfer, thru your butt, I would go with soft foam over shaped foam.
My new TW factory seat is firm foam.

I've had both, and keep going back to the Sargent.
I do like the SADDLE concept of Corbin, and it's far better than any stock seat.
But for me, I always go back to the Sargent seats.

Spent nearly 5 hours on my Sargent a few weeks ago, and never once did my butt complain.

I've had multiple Corbins, Sargents, Seat Concepts, and Saddlemen seats on a variety of sport and adventure bikes, and have always found the Corbin seats to be overly heavy and generally uncomfortable over longer distances. The Sargents, on the other hand, are lighter and fit me much better. The Saddlemen are also great, but generally heavier than the Sargent seats. Seat Concepts tend to be better than stock, but not as comfortable for me as the Sargent and Saddlemen seats.

The answer here is probably that you need to find a way to try out some different seats and figure out which type fits your ass best.

I dropped out of the seat lottery years and years ago. I buy a used seat for which ever bike I'm dealing with and customize it to be exactly what I want.
It isn't complex to do it ... the big trick is to decide how you want it. Buying a used seat to modify is not expensive.(nobody was happy with it) ;)
Working on the "extra" seat means no down time for the bike. Now-a-days I can get then just right on the first go. But I could never do one for somebody else.

I've got a Sargent on my Africa Twin. I like it. It's my second Sargent seat, and this one seems like it was made for a wider butt than mine. It's comfortable though. On the AT I can only compare it with the stock seat that I found really uncomfortable.

I did not think to look into a return policy. But if I went with Corbin I would go there and get it custom. Doubt they would take a return on that.

I do ride a Corbin on my NC700 but for my last 4500 mile trip I added a natural wool pad. It did add some comfort and I like how my back feels from the shape of the Corbin

My biased opinion is that Corbin makes cruiser style saddles, but I don't know how they would do on an ADV where you have to have forward and backward movement,

as compared to a Harley or a cruiser where you just plant your ass and it never moves.

My AT has a seat concepts gripper style seat on it currently. I cannot stand how I cannot slide around on it. When I do my pants go in very uncomfortable places.

It would be nice to try different seat. Corbin makes it convenient since you can ride there and get fitted. However I agree after 300 miles I start to think about taking a break.

My current Corbin was not purchased by me but I road to Hollister and they reshaped it for free. Until I asked could they add heat. Then came the $150 charge. Well worth it when riding Beartooth pass in the morning.
