Afm Rip Off???

I agree with Ruben. The best show of appreciation is the cool down lap. We do understand some of you may not be comfortable taking a hand off the bars in the turn. So just kick a leg or look over and give a nod its all good.

WSMC requires Novices to do a days worth of turnworking. Its well worthwhile. It brings the level of bitching about turnworkers to a VERY low level.

Not a bad idea- should make them do it for three days.

I never really appreciated what turnworkers did till I spent a couple years teaching for an outfit that used the instructors to police crashes. Then I suddenly realized what it meant to pull a bike off a passed out rider while a track full of nimwits were speeding by. Or to try and push traffic over with hand signals and have riders come by five feet away at 80 mph.

Dude, you have some serious problems. You could have apologized for the remark about cornerworkers, or for your lack of knowledge about how the AFM works and the "big bucks" "they" are making ( the AFM is a club, they are us), but instead you come back with what is apparently a rather pointless and probably very angry political comment, which, BTW is one of the few things I never hear at AFM races, politics.

So what is your number behind the BARF tag you are hiding behind?

Some people do not now, nor will they ever "get it" further comment directed to or about them at some point, becomes pointless. Ladies and gentelmen, I believe we have reached that point with this individual.:rolleyes

That's about the most creative and intelligent thing I've ever seen you say.

i bet you dont even race-fill us in pleeeeze

LOL. I think he just filled us in. "Saddam"?

After I stopped racing last year I cornerworked the last sunday at sears.. That was one of the most tiring jobs i have ever done . It is freaking hot out there and you have to be on your toes at all times. I had to dodge at least three bikes that day coming into turn seven. Those people are so dedicated it blows my mind. Truly if not for them there would be no racing .

I was just talking with a friend of mine about this today ..
Now I don't race yet.. I hope to maybe get 1 clubman race in this year, but I have a friend that is a serious AFM racer. I made the comment to him today that he spends thounsands of dollars on new bikes, gear, tires, bike prep, track days, and basically all things leading up to race day. It seems like alot of energy, effort, and money to run a seven lap race. My buddy entered 3 races which was a total of 21 laps.

Being that the AFM is referred to as the "farm leauge" for the AMA you would think the races would be a little closer in length to the AMA races, and if that means increased entry fees and ticket prices for spectators then so be it. Nobody said racing was cheap.

I am not saying the AFM sucks or anything even close to that. I enjoy the AFM weekends more than the big AMA weekends.. I would just love to see Siglin,Tigert,Fong, and Hill mix it up for little longer, maybe say 12 Or 14 laps?? It seems that they are just getting in the groove just feeling comfortable and then they come by on the rear tire and your like its over already???

Saddam, are you buddies with the guy that rides his race bike on the street, with his yellow number plates n'all ? ?
Just guessin' . . .

Now, I was racing this weekend, too. I was in the 3rd race which should have started at about 10:40 or so but ended up being the second race after the abbreviated lunch. Yeah, I heard some grumbling in the pits, understandable, but no finger pointing.
And, I too, am a novice, on a new and different rig, needing all the track time I can get but hey, I beleive that everyone with the AFM is doing the best that they can to make a great event. It's a hell of a lot of work, show a just a little appreciation.

As opposed to the fine shape IRAQ is in. Interesting comment by a guy "named" Saddam, or Sodom or whatever, either way it aint pretty ...if I cared, I might get disturbed.

PS---a BIG thanks to all the turnworkers--you guys got quite a workout last weekend--Us folks that actually race appreciate it a TON:thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :boobies :Port

Someone should petition the AFM and make it mandatory that in your novice season, you are required to spend 1 full day as a corner worker (saturday or sunday your choice).

-=gp125racer=-

I like that idea. :thumbup
I started out as a corner worker in 1988. Did it for a full year to get a good idea on things. Went racing as a novice in 1990 :teeth

+1 Jeff..Aside from Saddam - your work is truly appreciated..

Now Saddam, I spent close to a year over there in "Gulf-1." I lost four buddies of my own..Sure, that is to be expected during combat but, I believe they passed away for a just cause to get IRAQ OUT OF KUWAIT!! Yes, this is America and we kicked the shit out of that country then..Any questions? Refer to my DD214!! It will show what I can back it up with..

Air Medal
Combat Action Citation
Combat Aircrew Wings (500hrs. Combat Flight Time) etc..

Now quit talking about why America is the way it is today..Did you check the calander? It's Memorial Day..Spend a morning like I did and plant American flags in-front of the headstones of fallen vets..

That's enough about the crap talking about this and that..Move on and please stop making friends!!

Love it or leave it.

You're FREE to leave any time you wish. Freedom isn't free.

There are some places on this planet where people are not free. Maybe you should go there.
