AFM Site Forum

seems the archive site has been deconstructed Craig. :(

So I don't know exactly what happened, but based on what little I do know, I suspect that www.afmracing.org was moved off the HE.net servers to another hosting provider (MonsterCommerce). I'm going to guess that Mojotown is using them to host the new site?

However: The old site is still on the HE.net servers- it's probably just not available because DNS has been changed. So it shouldn't be too difficult to resurrect the old forums with all their content.

Simplest thing would be to copy over the phpBB forums software and database tables into the MonsterCommerce servers. Probably would take someone who knew what they were doing 30min.

Not saying this is a long term fix to the problems with the missing forums, but at least we wouldn't lose years of content.

Actually Aaron, I am thinking going to go new forums in a more steamlined format. I don't believe we need a forum for every class. And will see about making attempts to retrieve, but my mindset is to just start fresh and get us something to use.

Paging Berto, any way to search the old forum info?

No, not yet. Eric's summary is the result of our thoughts on what the revised forums will look like.

There's not a doubt in my mind I can help you guys. Feel free to PM if interested.

If the BoD doesn't like it, I'll take it down. But until then, here's the resurrected AFM forums:

http://afm.synfin.net/webforums/

Note: I *just* updated DNS and it'll probably take a little while before it goes "live" for the rest of the world, so if you get an error, wait 15-30 minutes and try again.

I hope it does not crash with all traffic in the morning when people find out :)

JFC...that was pretty damn fast Aaron. Thanks a ton...should have pinged you earlier! We still should figure to do the update.

Once again, thanks!

Woulda been faster if I wasn't at the Sharks game last night. :laughing But yeah, I figured rather then continuing to complain about a certain webmaster with a long history of not getting shit done, it was better to just illustrate how damn easy crap like this is.

Websites are like race bikes: the most important thing isn't how pretty they are, it's that they work well enough to get the job done.

Quite an entertaining thread you guys have going here. Can someone tell me where I might be able to see the new rules/classes that are being considered for 2014?
Thanks.

the rules stuff is over for this next year.
There were a couple of changes at the BoD meeting this past wednessday, so I am going to wait for the minutes before posting everything just to be 100% accurate

new class stuff:

300p instated

disolved f singles, but modified f3 to allow them in there

lap time requirements for one of the 250 classes was expanded to be easier

I seem to recall the AFM having a 500 twins class...
