What happened to the good ole trophies that were more than 4 inches high and had a bike or wings or well, you know what I mean. Are we broke errrr?
AFM # never mind.

Yeah! My bro won a couple trophies........they were in zip lock bags!:rofl The only trophies in baggies should smell skunky. At least his bar will have more drink coasters/trophies

I saw the new trophies and I can hardly believe they are giving out drink coasters now!!

I guess if you won a beer mug earlier in the year it will be kinda' handy to win one of these ;)

trophies

Well..........I just wanted to give you a little history.....I have been the one volunteering my time and working countless hours picking the trophies (that come in "baggies") and ordering trophies for the last 2 plus years. I want to tell you that I have tried my best. I am sorry you do not like them.

I am getting ready to end my term on the AFM board in December so I will call on the 2 of you to take the position of trophies from me before then!

With that said, all joking aside....I would be happy to order whatever one you would like to see, you can email me ideas and I will review them with the trophy company and if it works in our budget, great.

In the past before I took over, I want to tell you if you have been around the AFM, the trophies in the past were either plastic tall things or wall plaques for the 10 years my husband (Ken Hill) raced before I came volunteered to take over.

Hopefully you like the AFM Banquet I do every year? :)

I got two "baggie trophyies" this weekend and liked them alot! The colors were kind of "slick art" colors, but hey, it's the AFM and NO ONE else has these this year! Not to mention, I like momentos around the house that remind me of the $1000 a weekend I spend to get them!

You know guys, you can always go to the local trophy shop and have them make a trophy for whining on BARF about the AFM trophies! In fact, if we just have a few more people bitching, we'll have a full field to compete for THOSE trophies! The rules only state that you can't cry tears on other competitors...

I thought the pewter motorcycle guy trophy from earlier this year was very cool, it actually made it into the dining room. There was a clear glass one from last year that stood out. Really enjoy the photo plaque championship one. Dont care too much for the clock ones.

The variety between all the tropies is great Kristen.... keep up the good work :thumbup

The other organization I have been competing with actively in another similarly high cost sport uses custom engraved plaques that are pretty darned nice wall pieces. They cost the club about $18/each at the quantity we buy them in (I know this cause' I was treasurer there for many, many years) and are worth every penny for the competitor satisfaction level they bring to the table.

Over the years we tried mugs, belt buckles and a couple other options like statuettes and merchandise gift certificates. Sometimes the efforts were an attempt to save money for the club and other times it was to try and institute something the membership "might" like better. In every case it was sooner or later decided that the plaques were not that expensive, or that bad a prize after all.

I understand the effort anything takes to get done at the club level when few volunteer and everyone has a suggestion. We used to suggest that all suggestions for improving club service be implemented by the suggestor as the folks doing the work already are pretty busy doing what they are doing.

I can easily put you in touch with the local custom engraving service we use. I am sure you would get a very competitive quote for something very nice and well worth hanging on the wall :)

Sorry Kirsten, I understand your feelings, but IMHO the coasters just seem very chintzy to me considering what I see other competitive sport organizations using and some of the other trophies I have seen AFM use previously to these.

Keeping it the same month to month is what we always went back to after every foray into something new for whatever reasons it was done for, less work too!

I LOVE that solid motorcycle one too Bob...that's my favorite of all of mine!
but the variety is great...you never know what's up there to get when you podium!

I've got two full walls from top to bottom of jetski plaques...they're impressive but REALLY boring...next!

Make sure you enter 750SB next rd I will show you track day, you will
be crying all the way to a Zoom Zoom day at Reno Fernly.

AFM trophies :rolleyes

Worked awfully hard to get them, and spent allot of my hard earned money doing it. Most of them were sinfully-ugly garish monstrosities that stood 3' high in imatation chrome and bogus marble. Went straight into a box in the garage when they came home. Except for a couple of faux silver platters (good for serving appetizers) , they all ended up at the San Leandro dump anyway :laughing

Maybe round 7 trophies can be a big block of cheese...

to go with all the wine I hear about the previous trophies!

Pay no attention to their comments Kristen. Considering you VOLUNTEER and do the best you can with the little money the club gives you for trophies, I think you are doing a great job. I have not been on the box this year but I love all the trophies I collected last year. I think anyone who complains about stuff like this should be automatically volunteered to provide those services next year. Like people who bitch about corner workers!

Trophies

I won my Middleweight Novice at Thrill and like my Trophie Kristen:) Its different, good job!

I love it when people complain about rewards and how volunteers don't do a good enough job. How about this...why don't you go volunteer for the club and stop your bitching? Otherwise, think twice about your comments and the people that bust their ass for the club and make it possible to be out there.

As to the volunteers, thank you for all of your hard work and make it possible for us to race.

I think some of you guys are being pretty hard on the guy. He was just saying what he feels. I personally think anyone who volunteers there time is doing a tremendous job, and our club would not operate if not for all of them. Kristen I think you do a great job on the trophie's. I like the different variety. The old school plain jane trophies do get old and like most said end up in the trash. Mugs, plaques, plates, and original trophies alll work for me. But then again my biggest trophie I usually like the most, is when I go home at the end of a hard fought weekend and my bike and me are in 1 piece.:thumbup
