So after having a Gsxr for a while I decided to pick up something different and got a 675 triumph... Im 6'6 and riding this bike is a huge pain in the ass and I'm just not feeling the bike like I thought I would.. I have about 12 years of dirt riding and figured that a motard would be best for me due to these reasons... I love wheelies, love stoppies, love dirtbiking in general, and basically riding a sport bike around sf blows :rofl.... This bike would basically be a small commute bike 8 miles everyday and cruising around sf with occasional twisty riding and trips... I'm planning on trading in the 675 for a ktm 690smc... I really like this bike and it seems like a pretty powerful tard... I like drz but I want something powerful.. I am mechanically inclined and am prepared to do 500 mile oil changes and valve checks all the time.... Is anything comparable to the 690?
 
I'll trade ya a BMW X-challenge. I'm 6'3 and i tip toe it....

Get yourself the sportsman tires on it and have at it.

Oh yeah, 53 hp.

Also, if you want to drop 1500-2000, you can get the SM wheels i've been dying for but can't afford...

Mechanically inclined? Build one.

I'm building up a DR650SM. Hopefully, when I'm done it'll be around 55 HP.

But I have to admit, that beemer looks sweet and you don't see too many of them in tard form round these parts.

Oooooh...big valve head on top of a 790? It will be interesting to see if that retains the long-term reliability of the stocker. When it is going to be finished?
 
Yep I'm way to big for this damn bike... As much as I like the bike I just can't get comfortable on it
 
Lol I just realized how old the bike is hahaha... I'm just going to wait for a 690 to come across my path

Hypermotard 1100?? Anyone have thoughts on one of those?
 
I have a hypermotard. It is awesome for cheap thrills. Before others chime in that "it's not a motard", it's not, but it's at least half of one, and feels a hell of a lot more solid. It builds power like a V-8, and I love V-8s. Key is to resist riding it everywhere like a complete cock. And that's not easy.

I did ride a KTM 690 before getting the hyper and it's more of a suped up dirt bike IMO, very light with sharp throttle/handling/brakes but still a dirt bike.

I think a D675 would be particularly brutal to ride in SF. Almost anything would be better.
 
Ahhaha you nailed it... I figured that the hyper wasn't really a true Motard but it's basically what I'm after... I think it fits all the categories I'm after I sent you a pm proto
 
As an owner of 690 SMC I can compare it to having sex with a fine ass 22 year old asian female(insert your preference here), with dual braided ponytail with kick ass body that obeys/satisfies my every need. Yeah I think that describes it pretty close. :ride

I could rave Rave RAVE about a faux tard 1000..but...there is a shortage of riders, that believe me.

If you're thinking hyper 1100, why not go 1200S and get that electronic adjustable Ohlins?

Wow, I just picked up an '08 690 smc. If its really like that, well, guess I'll be single soon...
