Akuma Electrochromatic Visor

:wow Well you do it once per day... I think 10 seconds a day is going to be endurable.

Actually, one idea my old boss had (Rick at Suomy), was that the LCD display would change from light to dark instantly. So while you're riding through a scattered tree canopy, the visor would automatically adjust to the light as you are RIDING.

Having it switch before or after a ride, is kind of cool I guess, but it has so much more potential.

It's been postpone over and over for over a year already. I wouldn't be surprise if they can't release it til winter. They are also working on a visor that lets you can control the tint with a dimmer switch. Bet this will take a while to.

I like that it's not an instantaneous change. It seems like it would be easier on your eyes. I mean, the point is to have it change while you're riding, right?

I don't think LCD technology is at the point where it can handle temp extremes.... thus the quick change of an LCD would be out.

Checkout there homepage, its pretty kool.

That's what I was working on 5 years ago. It's really not all that hard. The visor just needs a small battery to power the electrons to produce the photochromatic effect. A small switch then controls the amount of power to the electrons. The more power, the darker the shield. Same idea as in newer homes with photochromatic windows.

There's a company that licenses the technology, you just need to come up with the application.
