So, quite a while ago, a year plus, I bought a set of SP-2 Alpinestar gloves. I like the fit, I like the thickness of the leather, I just like the glove, I've probably got 5 pairs of gloves laying around to choose from, from winter thick gloves to real light summer gloves to motocross gloves when it's real hot, but 98% of the time, I wear the SP-2s.

Well, last week, I noticed the perforated leather on the gauntlet has started shredding, right behind the thumb, probably where I pull them on. I called Alpinestars, they asked for some pics, then they sent me a return number, and they are going to replace them.

Outstanding customer service. Highly recommended.

Those were my least favorite pair of gloves i have ever purchased. At least the customer service is good. I run their boots so I will keep that in mind if I run into issues.

What don't you like about them? Mine fit real well, other than the perforated leather coming apart, the stitching seems pretty strong, and if I have to backhand a window with the plastic/carbon knuckles, they are right there. Over a year later, the glove part is still intact.

Oh well, I really like mine.

I have 5 year old SP-2s that are still holding up. My daily glove.

The leather is basically 90% worn down but still no tears, and they survived one crash too!

I had a pair of GP Pro's with a small stitch coming undone at a finger. The gloves were 2 years old, Alpinestars sent me a new pair :party

A low speed get-off tore a huge hole in the palm. I only wore them for about a year of daily commuting and they nearly completely fell apart. It never occurred to me to email the company I just bought a different pair of gloves. All my gloves since have been far more expensive however.

I had a pair of SMX-5's last a few years until the zipper broke then i finally retired those when I got my Supertech's. Those are getting pretty beat after only a year as well.

Customer service may be great but I've only seen mediocre quality with regards to their products.

Don't throw the boots out. They will repair and resole them for $85 and they do a great job.

Call 310-891-0222 and ask for boot repair.

It's now $100 for boot repair at Alpinestars, but still very worth it.

No thanks, when I spend that much on a pair of gloves I really don't want to have to waste my time and have them send me another pair a year or two later. I prefer they just hold up the first time.

My Alpinestars GP Pro gloves are 10 years old and starting to look slightly knackered. I'm guessing I'll have to replace them within the next year or two :(
