oh you mean like Bush did? :laughing

Yup, people are retards, nothing new. To this day a decent percentage of people think 9/11 was a false flag govt operation (I remember a poll a few years ago that had the figure around 20%).

These polls are always fun, but meaningless. It is like going to a WTO protest to ask the hipster, Che Guevara t-shirt retards about geopolitics, etc.

I see very little humor in the level of ignorance we can display. It is the same kind of ignorance that has led to Insane Acts of Ignorance in the past.

He added, "It means that very large numbers (at least 25%) of people (they poled) are misninformed not only about President Obama but many things in modern life."

Ugh, they needed a pole to determine that! :laughing

I added the part in RED.

It's been at least 3 decades since I've heard of people that still believed that the Earth was flat, so we might be making some progress.

(or I could be out of the loop. that happens as well)

Vallejo is the fucking sticks as far as I'm concerned. If you don't live within 20 miles of a Major Metropolitan area, you're probably living among the idiot mouth breathers that make up most the world. It’s simple really. A very small % of the nation actively seeks out unbiased (i.e. truthful) knowledge of relevant current events. I would venture to say as few as 5% or less of the population and I’m including the politicians, journalists, professors and similar folks whose job it is to be informed into that equation. Within that 5% an even smaller % actually get the information they want and understand what it means. That being observed we recognize that almost all people in this country (and most countries) are idiots regarding what is happening in the world around them. In an area of high population density, you place yourself in the position of socializing in an environment of the most view points in a diversified environment. By factoring in many groups of ethnic, cultural and economic diversity, the current events IQ of the group as a whole is raised by merit if its larger and eclectic base. Of course even with that bonus, one can not expect City dwellers to be extremely advanced over the population of their surrounding geography.

Yup, generally agree, although I think 5% is probably a bit low. Also, small enclaves can be educated, culturally aware, etc (need not be within close proximity to a large city, is my point).

It is like those studies where they ask individuals to prioritize items needed for survival in the desert. Individually, people can sometimes be way off (ditching a vital mirror that can be used for signaling, etc). However, when you aggregate the results among the population, you reach a much more reasonable (read "moderate") outcome.

In other words, when one has more exposure to differing outlooks/opinions, he/she will take a more moderate/reasonable stance.

Yeah, you're probably right that 5% is high, but since I was operating under speculation rather than reliable information I figured to use a nice comfortable number rather than the probably more realistic 3% or so.

Haha, not sure if you are being sarcastic. I thought 5% was kind of low, but on second thought, it might be about right. There are a LOT of uninformed tards out there...

"This poll should be a wake-up call to all Americans about the real costs of using fear and hate to pump up hyper-partisanship," Avlon said after reviewing the findings. "We are playing with dynamite by demonizing our president and dividing our country in the process. Americans need to remember the perspective that Wingnuts always forget - patriotism is more important than partisanship."

This is for fucking sure.
