Hi all,
Not the Anakin you might be thinking of, my dog Anakin needs some help. Please say a prayer for Anakin and keep him in your thoughts. He will be having surgery on Tuesday, April 12 at 9:00 am. He has been diagnosed with insulinoma which is a rare tumor in the pancreas. He was having seizures due to low blood sugar and as of now he is not able to stand or walk. We hope this surgery will help him to be with us a little longer. We decided we would do everything we can to save him and not put him to sleep. He is not in any pain. He's bright and anxious to walk again. He is at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Hospital and they have been taking excellent care of him. His case is so unusual they have been using his case to teach the students there. With the surgery, all the tests, and care, the hospital bill is estimated to be between $7,000 and $8,000. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Think happy thoughts for Anakin and we hope he'll be coming home soon. Thanks!

They aren't providing a monetary break since they are using his case to teach students?

Hell, the military picked up a large portion of my bills for my tumor, because they hadn't seen one that aggressive before.

You might want to ask them about that.
 
I know how hard this thing is. Whatever happens - you were good to your puppy and did all you could. :) When he pulls through you'll have a great story.

We asked about deducting something for using him as a case study, but nothing so far. Right now, the bills are secondary to Anakin himself. I can always complain about the bill later. Thanks for your thoughts.

I know how you feel.
<----This little guy had terminal kidney failure at 2 years old...his only option was a transplant at UC Davis. At over $10k it wasnt an option. But we would have gladly paid if we had the money. You are to be commended for being so unselfish with you money to save your family member. I hope all goes well.;)

I know how you feel about this, Dito. I would fork over the $$ to do whatever I could for either of my dogs as well. I'll see what I can do possibly on Friday.

Davis has the best vets. Sandie and I spent alot of 2002 there with our baby girl Kayla (dalmation). They took great care of us and her, and gave us an extra year that we wouldn't have had otherwise. Sending you and your pup good thoughts.

hey man just wanted to let you know all the bad things i said about you in the past....

Well let's just say they are still true but I think you are the second best dog owner in the world. Second of course to your's trully.

Well when Anakin gets back to the house let me know so i can bring sprockett over and he can play with him while he's recovering. I guess there will be less of a chance of him being eaten if anakin is all doped up.

Emmy and I have been thinking about him so hopefully all is well.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Anakin's surgery went smoothly. They found a small tumor and removed it. He is still very weak and can't walk or stand yet. We're keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for the best. He's not quite out of the woods yet but we're keeping our hopes up. We went to visit him and he's in very good spirits and is recovering quickly. He's trying so hard to get up so as long as he's not giving up, we're not giving up on him! He told us to send all of you his love and thank you for thinking of him. We'll keep you posted. THANKS!
