Totally agree. Read why it's pronounced 'Jif' and its because of a coder lingo "Choosy programmers choose gif"....so basically he's saying his nerd-ism supersedes gramatical correctness :laughing.
 
I'm pretty sure if you name something you can pronounce it however you want regardless of spelling. like La-a. Ladasha. You know, cuz the dash don't be silent!!
 
Since when do acronyms get pronunciation rules beyond a socially accepted norm? Clearly there isn't one of those on this particular acronym so fuck you programmer guy. :laughing
