You can't be tough if you have no honor. I remember once there was this thing called sportsmanship... if the other team was better than you, you took it like a man and didn't have to resort to trying to game the system in order to win.
There are plenty of awesome soccer players, it's just guys like that which tarnish the sport. I can't get behind a game that ends 0-0 half the time and people fall down in the worst display of overacting possible in the sporting world.

Can't be tough without honor? You clearly haven't been in many fights. There are lots of VERY tough people who have very little honor. I agree with your general sentiment towards the game, though. It has so many good aspects, but falls very short in a few ways.

True toughness comes from within. One of my favorite books is The Intuitive Warrior, definitely worth a read. Any asshole can take a few hits or put a bullet through someone, but if you have no honor you're just a wild dog that walks on two legs.

That's interesting from a philosophical standpoint, but it wouldn't prevent someone from kicking your ass just because he had less "inner strength" than you.
It just means that being stronger doesn't mean you win the fight. Moral victories count for something. If I got an A on a test I cheated on, I didn't really do well, did I?
But still, something can be said for being an unscrupulous repugnant merciless bastard. It definitely has its advantages.
