Beat me to it. Looks legit. It's like a lighter Redshift. Closest bike probably Talaria Dragon but Dragon is 28KW, this puts out almost double the power

It's all no-name stuff, save for the KKE wheels, which are maybe on par with Tusk wheels, which are probably in the tools-worth-buying-from-Harbor-Freight kind of quality category. Stark and Alta were using components you'd see on Japanese and Austrian flagship models, KYB, WP, Brembo, etc. Stark might be building their own wheels, but Alta was using Warp 9 Elite series and those are pretty good, definitely above Tusk and maybe a hair behind OEM.

This is a really scary bike to pay $11k for. Just a few months ago Kawasaki was blowing out their '23 KX450's for $5995, which is a really good bike that won 450 shootouts, and I guarantee that if you paid $5995 for a new KX450 and $5995 for a new Arctic Leopard E-XE 880 and rode them both all the time, the quality of the Artic Leopard would be disappointing in comparison. Can't imagine paying nearly double for it.

The guys in the video kinda suck, imo, for hyping it up the way they did. There's no way that guy does 60-70mi guided tours for people while riding a '24 KTM XC and is excited over a new $11k dirt bike from China with no recognizable components. He pulls out a 2000w charger with an xt90 on it and doesn't laugh? C'mon. :laughing

Most of that also describes My Ultra Bee...:laughing I thought I might be nuts to pay $7k for an Ultra Bee, but so far like the tattoo says, no regerts. But you're totally right that $11k is a bunch of money for "what that is".

I think that things are being figured out about what people want...very quickly. Just 2 or 3 years ago light bee's were kinda rare, Taleria even more so. Ultra Bee's and Starks were just pictures on the Internet. The "mid sized" bikes seem to be the flavor of the month (Taleria, Dust, Arctic, all have one coming). Since no one really seems to have RACING as the main goal, it frees them up to make bikes fun to ride. It also gives them room to fuck it up. The bike in the vid has some sort of electric clutch? WTF is that?

We'll see.

As for the Charged Cycles guys in the vid, I've not seen them do goofy stuff before. They're usually all business, specs, tech, etc. They should stick to that apparently.:laughing
 
I think the fact they raced Dakar one of the hardest off road races in the world on that bike is credibility enough. I've only heard of Arctic Leopard couple times but this one has my attention. Exciting times for electric bikes. I don't think they'll catch up with the gas bikes anytime soon not until there is some kinda battery breakthrough technology.

He mentioned the regen. So they have a variable regen throttle like the EBMX X-9000 controller and ASI BAC controllers. I don't even have to upgrade the controller to get one =P

I think Surron's stuff is pretty much in the same category, but I think the best price I've seen on the Surron X is maybe $3999? That's not bad, but I think the value decreases in their two bigger models. The price gets to the point where other things are probably better.

If these electric motors had more rotating mass, a clutch would be cool in the same way gas clutches are cool, spin 'er up and let go when you need to get up/over something. I doubt their clutch is working that way, but maybe.

Never come across these guys before, but I hate the idea of hyping something up in front of people when the absolute most they could say at that point is, "ehhhh...I dunno...".

He mentions that they are trying to get KYB suspension for it! Hands down it's a competitor with a Redshift, it's lighter, has almost the same power, and you can swap the battery easily.
 
Maybe a competitor by the specs, but the Alta's are almost certainly going to be a full class above in quality.
 
Wouldn't know until I tried it but that's the difference between a $10k bike and a $13k bike

Yeah, although I believe his input...I'd expect a pro 450 gasser racer to pretty much say that, even if the bike were on par with gas bikes (which I know it's not). I'm sure his sponsors wouldn't like him saying anything otherwise. It would be interesting to now have him ride and critique the Varg.

I know the 880 makes about 51HP so it is comparable to a Varg but the Varg obviously has more power but it is heavier. They are different bikes. The Varg is a motocross bike and the E-XE is an enduro bike.

It is pretty close to a Redshift. I would actually say it is superior to a Redshift in terms or power, weight, and battery capacity.

Didn't say he was sponsored by AL...rather likely/assume he's sponsored by a mfg team racing gas bikes.

Yes, different bikes but at the end, he was commenting about the bike at a MX track. I would assume his opinion would improve riding the Varg.

I'd love to own either -- but for the $$, I'd definitely go Varg over Artic Leopard.
 
Really the Varg costs a lot more than the Arctic Leopard. I can't really say anything I would have to ride them first. The first time I rode a Redshift I was blown away.

For me I would rather have the Arctic Leopard. I'm looking for a trail or enduro bike. I want something light weight with good suspension. I like the regen brake lever also. After running the regen thumb throttle I think a regen lever with a rear foot brake is the way to go. After racing Virginia City Grand Prix again in the Light Bee I've realized I'm not strong enough to operate the thumb brake and go down steep hills. The Varg is kind of unobtanium right now also. It looks like the the 800 will be out sometime this year and Arctic Leopard has many other bikes in their lineup also. The Varg is too expensive also.
