Any archers in the house?

Yeah, with te speed of the recurve arrows you have to factor in the rotation of the earth...

Don't forget moon gravity.

Har de har har. You forgot RH, altitude, temp, latitude, solar flares, local geomagnetic phenomena, uphill, downhill, whether the feathers came from a male duck or a female duck, the glue on the fletch, nok alignment, and whether or not the KS is full of knobs.

Akshually, I got a new bow, which is a whole 40lb pull. amma gonna be shootin flatter than a pancake:teeth :cool

Good deal.

This is a brutal-looking broadhead. Might have to get a couple...

Hmm, I like that angle. Maybe we should run 3 cameras, one on a Joby tripod at the target.

Here's the footage from my Contour. I gotta do something about that mic gain. And I forgot one target somewhere and need to take more "arrows in the animal" shots.

hello there, this thread caught my eye, and didn't realize how long it was. I'm a rookie at archery. I got my bow and arrow just a few months ago when I took a class at my city college. I decided to purchase a bow and arrow when I realized I actually had some good aim. I have an archery range in my neighborhood, but I haven't had that much time to shoot though. I feel like it would be a lot more fun when you've got buddies to do it with. while taking the class, I had my form down cold, but after a few months i'm sure to be rusty.
Peace

Second day shooting my new compound bow and after getting it semi dialed in I was actually hitting 4 inch groups at 20 yards:)
I shot recurve bows much of my childhood and into my teens but 25 years later things have changed so much in the archery world.

I kept getting frustrated because at the shop I was shooting pretty good only to get to the range and start launching arrows all over. Wasn't till I took my glasses off that I could start getting the string to my nose and hitting my target:)

no it has a peep but when the peep was installed i wasn't wearing my sunglasses. the sunglasses i wear (Oakley jawbones)are basically my glasses i use for USPSA matches so they are not small by any means. the way the glasses fit I can't get the string in the right position while wearing them. as soon as i took them off i was hitting exactly where i needed to:rofl

As far as peep sites go the bow came with a cheap plastic one with a rubber tube attached, is it worth it to change it out to a metal on? also i am noticing the fletching on my arrows are starting to tear due to the rest that is on the bow what would you recommend for a inexpensive general purpose rest? currently the one on the bow is a Octane hostage xl rest:

the bow is a bowtech fuel:

what would be good upgrades to look at for the bow overall?
my primary use for the bow will be target shooting with some light hunting (hopefully) down the road after my ankle heals up.

I have a G5 peep on mine, it's excellent but the shiny finish makes it a pain in the ass when you're shooting into the sun. I'd upgrade to that but if you have a cheap string it might rotate the peep on the draw (they generally use that rubber tube along with the cheap strings to keep the peep straight).

Get a good drop-away rest. I use the QAD Ultra Rest HDX and I'm happy with it but I've seen quite a few at the ranges and I have yet to run into an owner who was unhappy with a certain drop-away. NAP Apache, Trophy Taker, Ripcord all make good ones.

I'm a PSE fanboy so I wouldn't know what to do with a Bowtech. Check out the Bowtech forums on ArcheryTalk bro.

I can't thank you enough for the suggestion of getting a drop away. I picked up the NAP apache on sale and it has stopped my fletching from getting torn up as well as gotten my groups a little better. I am able to hit 40 yard target in 6 inch groups now:laughing
Next up i am looking to replace my sight and do a lot more practice.:thumbup
