Hi All, my daughter NiNi is 12 years old and just got her first dirt bike. She has ridden it a few times up our street (we live on a cul de sac), but would like to go to Metcalf.

She would prefer if she had a female to show her the ropes -- does anyone have a teenager who rides and could teach her? Or know a female instructor that gives lessons?

We'd be looking to pay someone to meet us at Metcalf for a weekend lesson.

Brian Garrahan does all sorts of instruction, and Women's only courses too.

HHORVA has free lessons with membership

You win Dad of the year. Trying to round up a group of female riders for you.

hey dad, I'm not an instructor but I ride a lot (and am just starting to race) and could show your daughter the basics. Pay not necessary, you can donate to barf instead. I live about 20 min from Metcalf so it would be easy for me to make it over. PM me if interested :) Rebekah

Good options above. Also, Shelina Moreda.

Edit: Doh! Someone owes someone a Coke.

Thank you ladies!! Always great when you can help a Dad in need :teeth Keep us all posted as we love hearing about another rider in our midst! maybe even pics (or it didn't happen :lauging)

Shelina is AWESOME!!!
I think any girl getting some one on one from Rebekah will also be a winner :party

Cathy rocks, I gained so much out of one short ride with her!!

I might need in on this. I rather buy my 12 year old daughter her first dirt bike instead of a stupid cellphone.

Any recommendation on a bike for a 5'1" skinny shorty newby girl? TTR110?

I don't think a ttr125 will be too much, they're super tame and short - that's what I started on. And hell yes to buying her a dirt bike! :ride

Biggest issue I found with new, young riders is the clutch concept. Too many auto trannys out there.

My 9 and 10 year olds learned on CRF 70s, they have three gears but an auto clutch. My 10 yr old wants an Oset electric; easy to start and ride, no worries about kick start and shifting. From what I've read young newbs can get really turned off to riding if there's too much technical stuff in the way. Better to start off with easy-peasy and transition to the real thing than have the real thing scare them away (my .02 anyways)
