Anyone commute year round from WC to downtown SF?

They definitely do, like I said its not a race thing. I hate white thugs as much as any other. I dont mind all the hate in this thread, no biggie. I just dont see the big deal in me not wanting to live in filth, grime, and crime. How many of you would move to east oakland where the population is 90% black? How about the tenderloin? EXACTLY

Used to live in the TL. What's to hate about rooftop bbqs, miller 32s, and the Edinburgh castle? You're a sheltered white kid we get it.

An hour plus experience?

Most people in WC live within 5-10 minutes driving distance to BART. And from WC to the Embarcadero is only 35 minutes.

Plus how many people who work downtown have access to a garage close to their office? And if they do, how much are they paying?

Bart to downtown isn't 35 minutes. When I used to take it, it was 46 min. from WC to civic center. You also discount the time it takes to park and get to the platform and whatever you have to wait to catch the next train.

Not to mention, 35 minutes is what it takes me on my bike in heavy traffic. Plus Bart is a germ infected metal tube of sick and filth.

I live in the "shadiest" county in the D.C. Metro area. But I go home and all my moto packages are on my doorstep, vehicles and toys never stolen even if I drunkly leave my garage door open all night long.

But my friends who live in rich white areas get their mail stolen and wheels jacked off their cars all the time.

Teh blacks will always be afraid of that crazy white dude that moves into their hood.

Broseph.

Rant over. Take BART. Way cheaper.
Tires and oil alone... Cause you all know this bro ain't rocking sport touring tires.

arlington county? i kid kid. except when it comes to getting stuff stolen. i lived in alexandria and found my car on blocks (had some high end wheels) and it is the irony of the suburbs. working folks with enough wealth and, even better if your a theif, predictable schedules.

and what's wrong with ST tires? they slide around waaay easier!

From WC to Embarcadero it is. Which is where he'd get off if he worked in "FiDi"

No matter how you look at it, BART is the cheaper option. Does it take more time? sure I guess. But that's time you could be reading or doing shit on your phone/tablet.

IMO the only good thing about riding to work is if you're one of those people who really enjoys it so much, that it outweighs the additional cost over BART, and inconvenience of having to gear up, take off your gear at work, and hope your bike doesn't get stolen.

Props to those who enjoy riding that much, but personally, commuting during heavy traffic isn't very motivating to me.

Nailed it! I'm in PG county just outside of Anacostia. A few of my friends have found their rides on blocks in Alexandria... Haha. I rock ST on all my bikes. Sliding like a bad mofo.

I landed a job in FIDI and am planning to move to Walnut creek and commute on moto. It looks to be about 25miles one way. I have a couple main questions for anyone with a similar commute.

1. Is it worth it over taking bart in terms of time/money/effort?

2. Parking in FIDI, street or find a monthly fee structure?

3. I know its pretty wet alot of times throughout the year, do you ride through it or bart on the heavy days?

4. Its a corporate job so I will be shirt/tie/shoes, any bag suggestions that can wear nice on the bike and stay professional with still being able to carry my boots/laptop/maybe jacket?(thinking Chrome Bag)

5. Lastly, anyone with a similar situation to Q#4, do you leave your helmet strapped to the bike, and boots in a tank/tail bag?

Thanks for any input im trying to really decide how important its going to be to live close to bart when I move or if I can pull off the moto commute for 80-90% of the year. FYI: been riding for 10 years and a few of those I didnt have a car and was 100% moto but not a daily commute so....

PM ride_sf. He use to commute from WC and now from Martinez on his bike. I don't think he ever takes BART.

I ride or drive the car to SF everyday I am in town. Never tak Bart. If I didn't have parking in the City, I'd ride everyday (having a space in the city makes driving in a possibility).

I live in East Oakland and I'm white too, ya jerk..

You should be feeling pretty stupid right about now. No need to say anything else..

If you can get along with it in Oakland, you'll probably be OK anywhere in the world...

You mean Oakland? :laughing

No cause the crime doesn't come from Piedmont, clearly. :laughing

You should ride BART because if you're so ignorant about life, you're probably just as ignorant about getting out of the split when the all weather riders show up.
