Just had our 1950's house repiped with copper. Plumber was a good friend of mine since High School. Asked him copper or Pex? he recommended copper. This is a small 2 bedroom ranch with a crawlspace. 2 days work. I patched the walls. Even with friends and family discount, came out to $8,000. Nobody solders pipe anymore it's all crimped using special fittings with orings in them. He showed me one of the old galvanized pipes. I swear the inside was down to 1/4". Next up - Sewer line from the driveway to the main in the street. a $10,000 adventure. damn orangeburg pipe finally letting go

propress is amazing. Its what I'd use if I repiped my house or did a side job. I hate seeing it in the field though, it takes our work away. Luckily there are quite a few clients that don't allow propress and we love them for it.

I just repiped last year. House was built in '83 and was doing a pretty extensive remodel. Figured I'd replace all the supply lines as I've heard the life of copper is ~50 years and I didn't want to have bad pipes under a whole house remodel.

My plumber was a good guy if you'd like his number. He works out of the north east bay.
