I bought a ATX at950 Scorpion (camo finish) 4 months ago, The tight cheeks issue just about killed me on rides longer than 2 hours.
I thought it would break in .. so far, not too much, but I'm still hopeful.
I bought thinner XL cheek pads from Rev Zilla, flattened them out, but the head shape may not suit everyone.
I fit both Shoei and Arai really well, more a round head I guess ... with FAT cheeks ... hence the problem with the Scorpion. Causes a headache after about 2-3 hours.
Previous helmet a Shoei Multitec, which I love. Size medium, was a bit snug at first, broke in perfectly (as it should) and has lasted YEARS, does every thing well.
Owned mostly Arai before that. Fantastic also. I don't like cheap helmets ...
and this Scorpion is not "Cheap" ... just not sure if it's "good". ???
I love modular helmets, would not ride with anything else now.
BTW, I've crashed a few times with my Multitec. (dirt riding) Nothing serious, but Zero problems of chin bar getting ripped off or failing in any way.
And for those that think it's dangerous, please site crash statistics where modular helmets failed and rider was hurt ... and good luck with that.
This Scorpion 950 is actually pretty quiet, IMO, not as quiet as the Shoei but close. I haven't worn the Scorpion lately on long rides but hoping the recent mods I did will help with discomfort.
OF course I always wear ear plugs. ALWAYS!
I've had no issues with the shield, (wish they'd leave the Sun visor OFF)
And sometimes the Chin bar will NOT latch when closed. Seems my riding jacket collar may impede it's latching ? ... or ? not sure on this.
Anyway, stay tuned for further feed back once I'm able to get out and put time on this helmet. The overall quality, fit and finish are very good, IMHO. Good materials inside, doesn't stink ... but Hot Summer will test this.
I thought sure I would ditch the Peak Visor ... but so far it's been OK ... is FAR better blocking Sun than the absurd pull down tinted internal visor, which scratches upon 1st cleaning ... USEless. Hard to see through.
So, Jury still out. If I can't go 8 hours without pain ... then I'll sell the Scorpion ... cheap.
