Anyone with a 2013+ Kawi ZX6R - Need Advice

^ I get your point, Sir. :thumbup

- I have already got the suspension setup from Evolution ($40).
- The bike came with Michelin Pilot 2 CT Tires, which are pretty good for now.
- The OEM suspension on ZX6R is pretty "sporty" and "supposedly comfortable for street riding". Unless I feel the need to upgrade it, I don't see a point yet.
- I do plan to get a Steering Stabilizer down the road ($400-$500+).
- Brakes are good on ZX6R for now, I believe. I will get the brake fluid replaced this summer.
- And yes, when the weather gets better (Spring/Summer), I'll be taking some course & track days. :ride

Back to the original topic - the reason I (and most sports bikes) would like to have a slip-on is obvious - for looks & sound. You may not think that's important, and I'd agree. It's like having Pizza or Beer - we don't have them cuz they're healthy, but because we love them anyway! This isn't an argument about right & wrong, it's about if you're gonna have a beer, which is the best deal? :)

P.S: Please refer to post # 14

While the suspension is good, have it set up by someone who knows what htey're doing.

Is there a reason you think you need a steering damper?

oops, missed that part

That's alright! :)

Fact is, while I was riding the bike back home after getting the suspension set up, I felt more confident and better planted on the road. :)

The same feeling I used to have with my CBR (man, loved that F4i). It was an old bike but smooth like butter, with it's easy pull RSC clutch, suspension set up, 2 Bros exhaust (just right tone, not over the edge), with tank grip pads. That bike used to sing, and dance in my hands; regret selling it. :nchantr

My new bike doesn't feel the same, trying to get it to similar setup.....eventually.

One of my neighbors just got written up for his loud H-D. Apparently the fine is significant.

He wasn't even rev-bombing, just accelerating from a light.

Hmmm... A Harley is sooo loud. That's like blaming a diver of a V8 for having a loud vehicle. Certain vehicles are manufactured that way, so I'm not sure what's the cop's argument in the court. :rolleyes

600 bikes aren't all that loud anyways, even with a slip on (with cats).

One of his is stock and sounds it. The one he got clipped for has Screaming Eagles (basically straight pipes) and can be loud.

In any case, the police are no longer fooling about. Change your muffler if you like, but if you eat an expensive ticket be sure to get laughed at. :thumbup

Guess he was asking for it. :nchantr

You can do a slip on by itself. Realize on the zx6r the short exhaust like m4 or two brothers don’t work with aftermarket rearsets by the way.

So, is there a way I can get a custom pipe or bracket to hook up the exhaust a few inches higher to clear the rear sets? Maybe a muffler shop or a welding shop could do that?

It looks like from the photos you shouldn't have to move the exhaust as it clears stock pegs. Usually the designers of the exhaust mount them to account for ground clearance.

I see the installation in the photos; I guess my concern is if they'll work with the aftermarket (adjustable) rear sets, without obstructing any of its settings.

And secondly, if I attach it to the cat box it will be in a different position, since the photos show it's attached directly to headers (cat-less).

i would recommend spending money else where.. if you plan on commuting the bike, loud pipes dont' really save lives.. it just scares people senseless when you split through them. If you go with a shorty pipe which i did, i was able to get rear sets on but the rear brake was useless. I had the twobros s1r on mine and really regret it because i tracked the bike with no rear brake. There's clearance issues there. do suspension upgrades and rearsets. I actually have a set extra of both if you're interested.. It's an amazing track bike though. Wish i could've kept mine but my ducati 1299 needs all my attention :ride ..

In short, keep your stock exhaust. Lose weight yourself. Learn to ride.

Much cheaper and much more rewarding. (Plus you don't get veteran riders laughing and pointing at you.)

You don’t have the same shorty m4 or tbr that comes out past the rearsets. Vortex and woodcraft for sure will hit the top of the can. I’m not sure which model you have. Also some rearsets might fit differently

I'm interested in checking them out. :teeth When is a good time for you?

Update

Currently, I have stock foot pegs. And as shown in the pix, it is installed with OEM foot pegs, without blocking the rear brake, etc. I am just thinking ahead, IF & When I get the rear sets....how this set up will work. :afm199

P.S: Seller stated: "It will fit with any kind of rearsets since the bracket attaches from the inner part of the frame behind the rearsets." Sounds like it might work. :drool But he said I'd have to remove the box (exhaust vales box / servo) and hook it up to the headers (cats are actually inside the headers). So my guess is if I remove the box and servo, won't I need a tune or something (or servo buddy, etc)? :wtf Any ZX6R owners can pitch in?!!!
