Based on this thread I thought it prudent to take the pulse here.

So if you would please take a look and provide an answer.

If you are non opping more than one that would be good to know.

I have non opped 3 - likely to be selling one or two.

Thanks in advance.

I have 3 non-op'ed.

No. What's the point? Just let it seat and collect dust in garage?

I may damn well buy a third bike this year. I guess I'm dumb or something. :dunno

My big grandpa Glide was almost $400 last year. Wasn’t happy to pay it, but it’s the price I guess I gotta pay to live here.

*Sigh* I need to non-op my bike. I should have a long time ago.

Thanks all.

For the three that said I am fine with the increase my question is why?? I can afford it?? I like fees :laughing
It is going towards my retirement?? :p

I was not expecting a percentage so high accepting of it so inquiring mind if you care to answer.

I want a fifth choice :x
  • I moved to a state that doesn't charge as much.

Disclaimer: vehicle registration fees had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Thanks all.

Maybe they’re just better at doing that “don’t sweat things out of your control” thing. Wish I was!

Owning 3 older, not expensive, current value depreciated bikes.

All registered and paying the somewhat lower fees.

Fick. All the bikes, I ride them all. Otherwise they get depressed, and then you know what happens next...

I have 8 bikes, all registered. Two are for sale but it has nothing to do with the registration fees.

I don't love paying ~$120 a year for each but its such a small fraction of the cost of ownership that I am not going to get rid of bikes I like because of it. I do really wish we had antique plates for the old bikes that hardly get ridden.

Like others, there is very little I can do so I tolerate the fees. But not with a smile. In the past I have just paid the registration on bikes I’m in the middle of working on. Now I go through the effort of non-opting them. And then reregisture when their ready for the road.

To answer Bud's question about why,

I have spent a lot of time in places where gas is $6-8 a gallon and registration and sales tax is crazy high on vehicles, so it doesn't really feel like that much cost to own a vehicle here.

Also, $120 a year for unlimited use of California's roads really doesn't seem like a bad deal. (I know, big simplification and I can think of a dozen better ways to tax road use, but meh)

Neither, but it is the reason I registered my bike in Florida, my state of legal residence.
