ATTENTION: McGraw insurance!!!!

hmmmmmmmmmmm

I got Mcraww...now on my nu 02 R1
hey Richard..do you guys do SR22?

Progressive. Now see, I have a huge issue with them right now over my claim, but my rates are great. Remember, 100s' of factors go into an insurance rate. You can not compare what one person pays to what you may have to pay. I pay only $250 a year with Progressive for "full coverage" (no such thing in insurance). Often people complain about insurance because they do not understand what they are buying or how it works. READ THE POLICY JACKET. Often you only hear onside of the story. For example our friend on the other thread, the one with "13 tickets". He has a loss with McGraw, McGraw finds out he lied and denies the claim and voids the policy because of it. Guess what he tells everyone..."Ya MCGraw sucks." Not " I lied and got caught." If any company was as bad as some have said McGraw is, The Department of Insurance would have closed them down long ago. You should always shop your rates to find the best price, I shop mine every year. You should always read your policy jacket, they are required to be written so the "lay person" can understand them. Remember that the sole purpose of insurance is to indemnify you, to return you to the same place as before the loss occured. Not for you to make a profit. Insurance is not an investment ment to pay large dividends. It is to transfer the cost of a loss onto another party. Lastly, you should always contact the Department of Insurance if you feel you are not being treated in good faith.

hey Richard..do you guys do SR22?

yah, we do SR-22s..please call me Young by the way..but at work i'm Richard...thanks :D

i agree with Yellowduc on a few things.

and i'm jealous for your Progressive rate :twofinger

haha

YAAAAAAA MACGRAW SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just kiddin, it really was my buddy with 13 tix, not me. He doesn't really give a flying fuck what insurance company he has, who was an asshole and cancelled his policy, etc, as long as he can recover his costs should the bike get totalled or stolen.

Check this out now

I found out today that insurance didn't come look at the bike till this previous monday, SEVEN days after he took it in. Also they were trying to pressure him into getting it fixed. And the insurance adjustor is now telling him he should have not taken it to the shop for the adjustment ( even though he was given a claim # and the OK to take it there)

If anybody has Mcgraw/Pacific Specialty and wants to find out about their policy:

Mcgraw/Pacific Specialty Company

What is this "adjustment" you are speaking of? This story is not adding up. First, if the delay was McGraws for not getting to the shop, then they would pay any storage charges. Next, I have left my bike at the shop for well over a week in the past waiting on insurance work and have never had any shop charge me storage. They normally only charge for storage after the bike has been fixed and is sitting around. So, now the adjuster says said that McGraw disagreed with the estimate? And he didn't say anything more than that? He just said "Sorry, too bad" and hung up the phone? Bull. I have seen insurance companies work out deals with shops regarding labor, but parts is parts. If it has a mark/dent and is from the loss, it should be replaced. So, other than "we changed our policy" what is McGraw saying?

Yeah Mcgraw disagreed with the estimate that the shop gave them. McGraw tried to tell them it's fixable. The guys at the shop couldn't believe it. they said they have never delt with insurance like this.

This brings me to wonder that maybe the agent is trying to dick my friend. The shop has to have delt with McGraw a number of times and must have never seen anything like this.
As far as the shop goes charging for storage i think they are trying to make their money since insurance is involved.

Yellow duc i'm olny saying what i know and McGraw/Agent is being very shady about this whole thing. As far as the bike goes it should be at fremont cycle salvage by now. Its a Yellow 2001 GSXR 600 with all the right side rashed (tail/ mid/tank ding/upper/ rashed -dented frame/ bent rear brake lever/ ect...) If anybody goes there this week see if it's there.

I just want to be able to help. And point you in the correct direction. I just need the info. I'm not saying insurance companies are never wrong, or that all the people who work at them are good people. I know I have sent a few checks out (one for $100,000) to clients because we made errors. But, for the most part insurance companies are on the up and up. They may be slow and seem not to care sometimes. But, with fraud the way it is these days, they often take much more time looking into losses. Please, if you need any help PM me. I know Mike McGraw (owner) and Brian Weaver (VP) of McGraw very well.

What you say is true, my wife is a claims adjuster. Some of the stories she tells me. This one guy put a dent in his driver side door on a new van he just bought. He wanted the whole van replaced! It's these kind of claims that help clog up the process. So for an adjuster to drop everything and go to a shop is almost impossible. Even though 7 days is a long time.

Um,er, most companies DO NOT cover gear unless you pay more. It is called "personal property" and is covered under a HO or renters policy if covered at all. As I said, read your policy jacket.

i have mcgraw, dealer set it up. was about $800/yr (paid up front) but mcgraw sent a letter for another $400. oh well, it's still cheaper for the comp. for the new bike than it is for liability ins. for my cage which is about $2k/yr w/ AAA.

they're a little slow on payment but they did pay up for my 1st claim (which totalled a little under $5k) and presumably paying for my total (approx $7k). the appraiser deemed my bike totalled (even though i didn't think it was that bad) and i was sent the paperwork to pretty quick. though the processes in between are a little longer than i think *should* take. i filed on 2/11 (crashed 2/10) and got the paperwork a couple weeks after. still haven't received payment yet and it's been a couple mo. after. other than the wait time, i can't say i've any real bad experience w/ them. i stored it at the repair station where i work so no storage charges. didn't bother bringing it to a dealer for an estimate cause they (GGC) took about 2wks to do the estimate on my bike. even when i did have it at GGC, they didn't rip me on storage or anything like that.

i might stop over at FCS this sunday w/ a buddy and see if my bike is still there. incidentally it's also a 01 sixxer though the faster blue/white. ;) well, they're both the same speed now. :rolleyes. from my inspection, the only thing that needed to be replaced was the subframe, fairing stay, rear shock, swingarm, rear rim, rear tail light housing, midpipe and can and the plastics (which i already had a set which was pulled prior to the trackday). the frame didn't have a scratch on it, not even a ding on the tank (just very light scratches from the sand which could be buffed out), forks were straight from what i could tell (no impact points that i saw) and motor started right up as if nothing happened.

a shame that you can't buy back bikes from mcgraw, if i wasn't going to, i would have gave it to ken5150.

would have liked to have been compensated for my lid and suit but it's not covered in my policy and i wouldn't figure they'd cover it anyway. would have been nice though. that was some pretty expensive gear (arai RX7 KRJ rep, dainese k 1pc).

Nothing new

My buddy has not heard from his insurance yet. I'm going to go see if i can get a policy jacket from the company. As for now i dont want have him call them untill he finds out about the storage fees/policy jacket.

Also thanks Yellow Duc for the info on the links. I think i talked Brian over the phone last week about the buyback policy. He seemed like a cool guy and told me to talk to Eddie over at FCS if i wanted to buy it back from them. ( yeah, right their a rip-off)

Mstingray: please leave a post if you see the bike over at FCS

I must be one of the lucky ones. My insurance is also through McGraw and it's only, I think, $75-85 a YEAR! My registration is almost that much. :burnout

Just read up on this...

My insurance is McGraw. They totalled my bike and took it away last December 8th. Up to now they have not remitted any payment. My SV was taken by Fremont Cycle Salvage and I believe is being displayed for sale under a salvagte title.

My question:

Is there supposed to be a time frame for them to remit payment or to pay the creditor? I am still paying the monthly loan to the Suzuki creditor. The longer McGraw holds off on paying for the totalled bike, the longer I have to pay Suzuki for a bike I no longer poses.

I am getting anxious since I am out of the country at the moment and have difficulty coordinating with the insurance company.

Any tips?

I believe they have 30 days to give you a check. Someone else on this board has dealt with them and received their check right at the last minute... do another search

I havent had ANY experience with mcgraw, but ive heard good things about Markel if you need 100% Full coverage or not, or Progressive but, only progressive if u need Non-Full Coverage. Markel was around 1300 / yr for 100000/300000 W/500$ deductables...

Check it out...
